Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) says that the U.S. government should grant NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden amnesty so that he can answer questions without the threat of prosecution. Snowden was recently granted temporary asylum in Russia.
From Buzzfeed:
California Republican Rep. Tom McClintock wants amnesty for former NSA contractor and NSA leaks source Edward Snowden.

“I think it would be best if the American government granted him amnesty to get him back to America where he can answer questions without the threat of prosecution,” McClintock said. “We have some very good laws against sharing secrets and he broke those laws. On the other hand, he broke them for a very good reason because those laws were being used in direct contravention of our 4th Amendment rights as Americans.”

This is great news, he's not perfect though I don't recall what issues he is is wrong about but has a real chance at being a descent future liberty candidate for Californians.

He can't be that bad Sean Hannity pissed all over him in the '03 gubernatorial recall election --- in favor of his fascist friend Arnold.

Just faxed him a thank you note. Here's his contact info.:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your support for the 4th Amendment to the Bill of Rights and your recent comments regarding amnesty for Edward Snowden. I am of the opinion that his civil disobedience is truly heroic and that the concept of a general warrant for collecting metadata is an obscene violation of our Founding Principles.

I am not a resident of your District but wanted to thank you anyway. Your votes affect us all, and do not go unnoticed by those who care and are paying attention.

McClintock is someone who recently (past year or 2) took the red pill. He did vote for sanctions on Iran, but he's done a 180 on the Patriot Act and is one of the strongest defender of civil liberties in the House.
