" Every time any citizen applies for a job, the government would know"
Unfortunately we already have this, it is called the new hires database. It has been around for years and I would like to see Rand and liberty politicians promote legislation to disband it.
I am sure for those of us that oppose a Real ID or National ID they will throw this section in our face.
“(8) LIMITATION ON USE OF THE VERIFICATION SYSTEM AND ANY RELATED SYSTEMS.—
“(A) NO NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION CARD.—Nothing in this section shall be construed to authorize, directly or indirectly, the issuance or use of national identification cards or the establishment of a national identification card.
However reading through this I cannot see how it is not a national ID and tracking for all citizens.
If you want to stop illegal immigration then do it at the border. If you believe an employer is hiring illegals then use ICE to investigate the employer rather than tracking systems that would effectively apply to all Americans using Social Security numbers and the new hires database. Effectively one would not be able to work without a valid social security number. We pretty much already have this now but cracking down further really makes the social security number more of a national ID.
You can have all the tracking systems you like but they will not determine a persons intentions. What was wiser was the block on immigration from problematic regions which is now currently being lifted. So for all those that opposed such blocks, as I predicted as citizens we will lose our rights instead in favor of a national ID.
What do they think these immigrants are going to do if they are unable to work and feed themselves? If not ending up on the system and taxpayers paying for their benefits, no doubt I expect a rise in crime including violent crime if this passes.
