The author of the article espouses Lincoln-style protectionism, which is ever worse than NAFTA. I don't know why he refers to Ron Paul's opposition to NAFTA as if he was on his side.

Ron is against both but would undo the warps in the free market that caused the problem protectionism is trying to fix, to begin with. You don't fix a warp with another warp, you undo the problem.
