Government Bullies: How Everyday Americans Are Being Harassed, Abused, and Imprisoned by the Feds

Government regulations are out of control. They dictate how much water goes into your commode, and how much water comes out of your showerhead. They determine how hot the water needs to be in your washing machine, and how many miles to the gallon your car must achieve. Since the Patriot Act, your banking records, your gun registration, and your phone bill are easily accessible by government snoops. Mothers are arrested for buying raw milk. Families are fined for selling bunny rabbits without a license. Home and property owners are strapped with obscene fines, entangled in costly legal messes, and sent to federal prison, all for moving dirt from one end of their land to another. Unelected bureaucrats, armed with arbitrary rules and no need to back them up, stonewall and attack American citizens at every turn. The damage can be overwhelmingly taxing---financially, emotionally and even physically.

And who is being held accountable? Government regulation and red tape run amok in Washington, and honest, tax-paying citizens are the victims of an administration's misuse and abuse of power. Now, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, takes an in-depth look at the legislation that is trampling the rights of ordinary citizens, strangling their ability to conduct private, everyday activities without egregious government interference. He highlights outrageous searches, seizures and arrests, and points to thousands of regulations that have been added to the books since Obama took office. Most importantly, he charts a direction out of this mess, and toward renewed freedom for all Americans.

These stories are of everyday Americans badgered and harassed by their own government---the very institution that is supposed to serve us all. This gross breach of our constitution is as frightening as it is real, and GOVERNMENT BULLIES is a call to action against it.

I KNEW AF was actually Ron Paul...

Edit: Oh wait, RAND Paul... very interesting!

You've got to give Rand credit for going after one of the "untouchable" planks of modern pseudo-conservatism, the security state. It shows leadership on Rand's part.

Awesome.

Yes, I've read Tea Party goes to Washington, and yup I'd say it is worth getting too if you haven't read it. I enjoyed the biographical bits about Rand's campaign experience, and it gave me some good insights about the process.

Truth. I can't wait to buy it.

Have any of you read 'The Tea Party Goes to Washington'? Is it worth getting?

I checked it out from my local library, and I'd say it was an enjoyable read. Only a quarter of it is regurgitated Ron Paul talking-points, the rest interesting insight into a Tea Party success story.

Aqua Buddha approves! :3

In all seriousness, I wish Rand was president.

Here's a Buzzfeed article on the book: http://www.buzzfeed.com/rosiegray/rand-paul-slated-to-release-book-this-fall.

The book's title on Amazon is "Government Bullies: Americans Arrested, Abused, and Terrorized" and its scheduled release date is September 11, 2012.

Paul's spokeswoman Moira Bagley confirmed that the book is Paul's, telling BuzzFeed via email that it "will take on EPA, TSA, Lacey Act, etc."

I wonder whether the Amazon or the Barnes & Noble title is the actual one that will be used. The Amazon title sounds a little more dramatic.

I hope he addresses not just "government bullies," but also those "citizens" who whine & grouse about him (& others) taking a stand against these sorts of things.

I mean, seriously ... we now live in a culture that denounces & condemns people for wanting some sort of "special privelege" just because those people don't like being causelessly treated like criminals. How messed up is that?

cool stuff, thanks for sharing this!

I clicked on Rand's name on the B&N original link you posted and saw that there are actually _3_ new titles (new to me at least!) I did not recognize--

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/c/rand-paul/2806108

Government Bullies: Americans Arrested, Abused, & Terrorized (link) (release 9/11/12) $11.99 eBook
Not Politics As Usual: The Tea Party Goes to Washington (link) (release 8/7/2012) $8.32 paperback
Government Abuse: Why and How Everyday Americans Are Being Arrested and Imprisoned by the Feds (link) (release 9/11/2012) $16.32 hardcover

whats goin' on? is there 1 new book with 3 working titles or 2 new books scheduled to come out only a month apart?

EDIT: i contacted B&N today. A representative said all 3 books are separate. also, i note that there are different ISBN numbers and page lengths for Govt Abuse and Not Politics As Usual. it doesnt make sense. would they really do 3 books within about a months time?
