I missed both of the events you mentioned. I guess I'm still reeling from 2008. And you're right, maybe I won't ever see what I'm looking for.
Unfortunately, comments like these only serve to alienate people like me who are on the margin.
What I'm trying to say is, you're likely not going to make a difference just by yourself. Even if you donated the max amount, it's not like it's going to decide the election. However, if many people do the same or even just give a little, they can be part of an effort to help. If you get enough people feeling disenchanted, although they are there in spirit, they absolutely can hurt the campaign and RP's chances. I honestly just can't fathom why anyone would want to be part of the "disenchanted" group instead of giving it all you have just to see what good comes of it. I also can't fathom why people would be so hesitant about believing he's in it to win it. What could you possibly see that would convince you otherwise? To me, it would be just silly to think you should be assured a win before you even participate. That's the kind of thinking people have when they don't vote for RP because "he doesn't have a chance." If you need some kind of personal sign of it despite several campaign actions that point that way, then how would you ever be convinced? I say enough hesitation and just go for it because you don't know if you're going to win either way, but why not try to make a difference at least?
Aside from that, the campaign has showed many signs that it is committed this time around. That's what I mean when I say, what could you possibly see that could convince you? The campaign has made great strides and hired some top-notch people. If you aren't convinced by any of this, then you are looking for something that you're just not going to get. To me, it's just asking way too much and, I'm sorry to say it, but it seems a bit selfish to me. I'm not accusing anyone. I'm just telling you how I feel about that approach. It doesn't seem based in reality.
