Best i can tell it is a movement started by a huffpo blogger that has apparently spawned a facebook group. Is the fact that you heard about it a sign that it is picking up steam? I have been following the blogger on huffpo and he has written some very pro Paul and austrian economics pieces and has seemingly moved several dems in our direction.

I have a bad feeling this is actually just blown out of proportion. I think there are a few 'Blue Republicans' But most current RP supporters joined it to boost its numbers. I have heard time believing its legitimacy.

It is different from a Blue Libertarian

Basically correct. It was started by me after reading Robin's article, and we're now working together on it all.

I live in one of the most liberal cities in all America. I run a meetup group, and our focus this year is to convert liberals. I was already seeing the fruits of this when Robin wrote his article, which is why I knew this would work. Our fb group has an increasing number of confessing Democrats that are registering Republican. This will be a mini-movement. We have a book coming out soon that will clarify the movement.

Surely there are a huge number of disgruntled, no disgusted Obama voters who couldn't possibly vote for him again....?

Well I was never actually a registered Democrat, mostly just an apathetic independent, but if pressed to have an opinion either way I was pretty out there on the left (and in some ways I still am), and I would categorically support Dems over Republicans, though I didn't like politics in general. So while I don't have any stats to say whether the "Blue Republican" phenomenon (Ugh, while I adore the concept, that is not a very snappy moniker) is widespread or exaggerated I do know they exist, for what it's worth.
