They have a debt to society. I think they should have more worker protection and better treatment, but a key question that wasn't asked was did they prefer the work program or they could of stayed in prison 24/7. They received numerous benefits participating in the work program, so they either meet the requirements, or they can go back to prison.

I agree with much of this.

But if they're eligible for parole and are being denied after proving they can function in society, then that's a little sus, imo.
