I believe being chairman of the federal reserve is probably more powerful than being president. As fed chair Ron could speak to the people anytime he wants. He would be able to testify in front of the house. He would be able to see the books himself and control who does or doesnt get the money.
If therr has to be any compromise in the delegates then I would settle for Ron as fed chair.

The President can't nominate just anyone for Fed chair. He picks from a list provided by the Fed itself.

Yours is a common misperception, that the political system has any control over the Fed at all. It doesn't. The Fed is the master, not the US government.

Jeffery Herbener. And he'd probably refuse. Please do not start a precedent of politicians as fed chairman.

We're screwed, the correction must happen.

The President appoints (with Senate confirmation) the seven members of the Board of Governors of the Fed. From those seven Governors, the President appoints a Chairman and Vice Chairman.

wasn't been just re-appointed in 2009?... and the Fed chair is a 14 year term...

The Chairman and Vice Chairman serve four-year terms. As Chairman and Vice Chairman, they are also members of the Board of Governors. As Governors, they serve 14-year terms.

THe president can pick somebody thats not on the list if he wants.. Of course I think the last time that happened was Jimmy Carter.. Oops.. economy went to hell and he lost reelection...

thanks for the clarification... but Ben just started his 2nd term as chair in 2010, so that takes it til 2014

Ben is there a long time, but Romney wouldn't do it anyhow, he is owned by the banks and they would rather have Obama than Ron as Fed chair. Obama is owned by the banks, too.

Why would anyone check with a governor for something like that...

then again why should you have to receive the approval from an entity like a central bank to be able to run for president.

I'm pretty sure that it is like thoughtomator says,

I believe this is correct so I honestly don't see Ron Paul getting approval from the Senate. Heck, they won't even take up his Bill to audit the FED.
