The Russian state-owned RIA Novosti news agency reported on April 27 that Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, in a statement made to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), said it is unjust to call the Stalin-era famine that killed millions of the Ukrainian people a genocide. by Warren Mass

President of Ukraine Denies Stalin-Era Soviet Holocaust

That puts US into somewhat awkward position. They recognized famine of 1930s as genocide, but now Ukrainian government admitting they were lying. I remember when they tried to create a book that lists all victims in the Ukraine, but they could not find enough to support their claims about 'millions dead'. The total number of dead of that time as they counted was around 800 thousand. That includes dead from all cases.

Meanwhile Ukraine is erecting a Stalin statue. Quite a twist in their politics:

I didn't see any denial of a holocaust only that it the famine was not directed specifically at the Ukrainians.
Stalin's policies DID cause the famine.

It probably meant that the famine was not directed at Ukrainians only and was not a genocide of Ukrainians by SU. You see Ukrainian nationalists and ex-president (who is safely living in America now) were trying to present the famine as a direct genocide of Ukrainians by SU.

Oh you know how it works, mate. I live in Estonia and I hear them (Baltic MSM) saying: "hundreds of thousands of people were sent to Siberia by SU. Which is a third of population of Estonia." which makes us assume that hundreds of thousands of people were sent from Estonia alone, while in fact it was 90 000 and only 22-25 thousand were sent from Estonia the rest were deported from other Baltic states Lithuania and Latvia. Now, I'm not trying to justify the deportations bu to fair we need to mention that most of people actually were rehabilitated and got back home some 10 years later.

what the "Ukrainian government " says happened and what may or may not have happened are not neccesarily the same thing.

were trying to present the famine as a direct genocide of Ukrainians by SU.

when it was in reality only part of a larger horrible famine! that's slicing it pretty thin

the new ukrainian president is pledging fealty to the boyz in the hood in moscow, big surprise

You know we have one politician in Estonia who cares (or looks like he cares) about Russian minority in Estonia rights, well he is also automatically considered to be Putin's puppet around here.
