President Obama Picks Judge Sonia Sotomayor for Supreme Court

What I know so far:

-She grew up in a Bronx public works project
-Went to Princeton
-Parents immigrating to American from Puerto Rico

The NPR story on her this morning was horrible.

Summary: She's latino, she's got a great story...umm...she has a great story...what a great story...

As far as why Republicans won't be able to stop her...because she's hispanic.

Yes..that's disturbing..she believes the Court of Appeals is for setting policy and legislating...this is not good..although we knew we were going to get some socialist shill from Obama. tones

Anybody want to take bets over whether or not she's paid her taxes? We'll find out soon enough. :p

One quote I have seen so far that gives a glimmer of hope

At her Senate confirmation hearing more than a decade ago, she said, "I don't believe we should bend the Constitution under any circumstance. It says what it says. We should do honor to it."

We will see if her rulings reflect the same sentiment.

Well, they all say that. It's just that they seem to think they can make the constitution say anything they think it should say.

Barry's new SCotUS Girl...

Let's just sit by quietly and see how much "hope and change" she can provide in her first 100 days before we critique her.

Then we can say, "but she has only been here 100 days, give her more time!"

After a year has passed, we can just shrug our shoulders, turn to each other and say, "Welcome to the Gulag, Comrades!"

Barry's got a new girl!

Just when you wonder if it can get any worse, you find out that yes, it can. :(

Meh. From what I have dug up, she is marginally less egregious than the Souter she is replacing. I don't think things have gotten worse, just kept the status quo really.

Seriously, with the numbers in the House and Senate right now it could have been worse. It could have been A LOT worse.

And seeing how horrifically bad it could have been, I have to think of 'maintaining the status quo' on the USSC as almost a kind of victory. It almost seems that Barry O is afraid of us enough to not take advantage of the insane Dem majorities to install a liberal activist wingnut. The fact that he DIDN'T, is a bright spot in an otherwise rainy day.

That said, I have NO CLUE what her take on RKBA is.

I think CR's vid posted above is a BAD strategy on the part of the GOP. Work up enough angst and Obama could easily say "F-you guys, I'm changing my mind and will appoint Janet Napolitano."
