Post birth abortion?: Woman accused of killing her seven-week old baby

London (AFP) - A 24 year-old woman will appear at Oldham Magistrates Court on Monday charged with the murder of her seven-week-old baby.

Katarzyna Gacek is accused of killing her son Thomas Gacek at home in Oldham's Hillside Avenue, plus child neglect.

At the same hearing, Darren Butterfield, 35, and Dawid Mokrzanowski, 26, will face charges of child neglect.

Thomas died from serious head injuries "consistent with a non-accidental injury", a post-mortem examination showed.

Police went to the Royal Oldham Hospital on January 26 following reports that a baby had been admitted with severe head injuries.

Thomas was later transferred to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
