POLL: With the death of Kim Jong Il, with North Korea move out of isolation?

no.

the next in line will take over and things will stay the same. The culture there couldn't change over night even if the regime tried to move it in a different direction.

Actually you may see things heat up there as his son is now taking over. He's going to flex his muscles and warn the world he's now in charge and don't take him lightly. So things could be frantic for a while until some diplomacy is reached.

No. Watch any documentary of North Korea. The people there are as brainwashed as can be. They literally worship the entire family.

His son Uno (due tres) is going to take over..... They want to get out of isolation but rest of the world doesnt want to have anything with them (excapt China to some extent). Isolation is starving them but there is no sign that regime is weakening....Army gets food first and only then rest of population gets is...same goes with everything else.

China's new wealth may draw the PRK leadership into trying it out. It'll be important what China thinks and does about this change in leadership.

His son is not necessarily guaranteed the job- it will pretty much be whatever the military decides at this point. We will have to wait and see how it comes out but North Korea is in talks at this moment (begun before the Dear Leader's death) to try to get more food aid from the West. People there are still eating grass and dirt due to lack of food as the country cannot feed itself.

Most people there really don't care or even know about the "Dear Leaders". If you watch interviews with one of the people who escaped from their prison camps he states that he only heard about Kim Jong Il "3 or 4 times" in his entire life and even when he escaped and met other North Koreans near the border with China (where he was fleeing to) none of them knew exactly who he was either but had heard the name. These people just want to go day to day without starving. They could care less who is leading their country. The people in Pyongyang and other big cities close to the capital are brainwashed government drones who blindly follow the leader and teach their propaganda in the schools.

Just now on Fox....Huntsman just parroted my above statement.

First off, you've all forgotten there is no such thing as a dictator. The leader of North Korea has some power we know, but the oligarchy is in charge. The oligarchy isn't going anywhere. The oligarchy requires the figure head to maintain control. There won't be any major power struggles, I predict.

Kim Jung un's brother has been living abroad for the vast majority of his life. Went to school abroad. He lives in SE Asia somewhere. Supposedly, rumor, China is supposed to ensure Jung un doesn't have his brother killed. As far as media is concerned the brother doesn't want to rule the country and won't return. If there were some messed up power struggles, China might force this westernized brother into power.

What's going to happen economically? Likely nothing for a few years. Jung Un has to be solidified as the leader of the country (aka head of the oligarchy). After that, who knows? You know the "more principled" youth are supporters of Ron Paul. Kim Jung Un is supposedly in his 20s. He's likely going to be the leader for decades. Who knows what he will do?
