Just curious how many of you who are Obama, Baldwin, or Barr (or Ron Paul write ins) would have voted for McCain (with all his other problems) if he had opposed the bailout completely and took an active role in defeating it? I am voting Obama but I'm pretty sure that if McCain would've went against the political and financial establishment and opposed a bailout in any form I'd vote for him even as much as I detest his belligerent foreign policy.

If you're already a McCain voter please don't fill out the poll. I'm curious (as I'm sure you are) as to how many...if any... would have switched.

Im going to be honest, forget the backlash. I probably would be voting for mccain right now, had he completely opposed the bailout.

He showed himself for what he is, a socialist tool to the global banksters.

EXACTLY same for me here.

Yeah, I would have hated voting for him, I hate his brand of "National Greatness" "conservatism" (an oxymoron if there ever was one). But this would have signaled that he's willing to cut spending even if he's unpopular at the cocktail parties in DC.

It depends if I thought he was genuine about it. If it seemed rehearsed, or like a staged opposition, then no. If I thought he was serious about it and was having a change of heart... welll.. I think we can safely say that would never happen, so ya.. I'd consider it.

Yeah that's why I included him actively opposing it. He'd have to be making speeches against it in addition to voting against it. Also this assumes of course Obama doesn't follow him in fear of losing support...which is admittedly hard to see not happening. But this poll is assuming the situation above.

no way

There was no way in hell McCain was going to oppose the Big Bailout-especially when he has to get as many voters as he can.

Long before the meltdown, I wasn't going to vote McCain anyway.

Honestly, I would have been tempted to vote McCain. Of course if he opposed the bailout he might have other redeeming qualities that would attract liberty-minded voters.

Yep. Doubt it would happen. McCain would no longer be McCain if he actively opposed the bailout. Could only happen if Jefferson, Jackson and Goldwater locked him up for years and deprogrammed him... ;)

Yea, He's Mr. Bipartisan, it would have ruined his "message".

So...obama ALSO voted for the bail out..I don't get it...you don't vote for mccain because he voted for the bail out but you voted for obama who also voted for the bail out. Braindead. i voted for the GRASsROOTS REPUBLICANS....they are our hope. As far as i'm concerned one komrade is as good as another. TONES

I could never vote for what the GOP regurgitated up as their candidate -
the constitutionally ineligible Panama-born pandering populist who tried to commit suicide twice - John McCain

I will try not to insult you. The poll was if McCain opposed the bailout and Obama didn't I would hold my nose and vote for McCain.

Also I'm not voting against McCain because he supported the bailout which is what you seem to suggest (I have no idea how you came up with that)

I'm not voting for McCain but where is the option in the poll saying "I'm voting for McCain and would still vote for him" ;)

I just wanted to see how many would actually switch their vote to McCain if he did the fiscally conservative thing of opposing the bailout. I also should have listed Nader and Mckinney to be fair.
