The proposal would have Phoenix trails closed when the temperature reaches 110 degrees or higher.

"Under the proposal, hikers would also not be allowed to bring dogs on trails when the temperature is at or above 100 degrees.

The city has not said what consequences would be for people who violate these rules if they’re put in place."

the nanny state is happening in Az. This is the first time living here I have ever seen such a law proposed for parks . This state is quickly taking a nose dive into socialism and statism.

Another one of those senseless heat crimes.

Private Campground: *shrugs shoulders and sells some more ice*

This is what happens when you let politicians come out of their bunkers......

Do you need ammo?

It makes a lot of sense. Too hot to hike. People nowadays don't even know what is good for them or their limitations. They should consider mandating air conditioning and other concepts that can keep people comfortable and healthy.

We've had a couple of loonies die here in Tulsa recently while hiking and biking in the afternoon heat.

Darwin Award candidates?

These fine politicians have outlawed drugs to keep people from "harming" themselves, it's high time they legislated against heat/cold/sugar/smoke/alcohol/fast cars and global warming!

Children are dying because they can't pass laws fast enough!

Dogs are even dying in Phoenix......

This is likely to anger Matevilya ( Mojave God ) and Mastaho ( Son of Mojave God ) . I think they will make Phoenix hotter.

hmmm...id figure they would ban hiking because of all the HIKERS that been blown away in dem parts...

Yep, people need to be protected from themselves by bureaucratic hobbyists. Good thinking Phoenix.

these people have no clue..."water water water" has nothing to do with core body temperatures. UGH...the city should stop promoting hiking for families.its not a family activity in the desert period.

Meh , they will be OK . Let 'em play. When I was 16 I could take a mouthful of water , run 6 or 7 miles in the desert or dead of winter in the midwest below freezing and spit out out after, if they cannot , oh well , LOL

There ought to be a law!!!

There ought to be a law!!!

Heck they just need a law that makes heat stroke illegal. Voila - problem solved! No more heat stroke.

Just like all those people that die shoveling snow each year. Just make a law that outlaws heart attacks while shoveling snow - Voila problem solved.

There is always a statist solution to everything. There is no problem you can't solve with the right law. Prohibition always works! You just need to outlaw the right thing. Just keep banning things until all the world is Police state Utopia!
