The reaction from the left to my recent Walmart video does more to expose liberal intolerance and hypocrisy than my video itself. It's actually so bad that no explanation can come close to doing it justice. In this video I claim that I never received hate mail before. I should have said that I never received true hate mail. I have received emails over the years from people who disagree with me, often expressing their opinions in non cordial ways. But I never received anything like what I am getting now! Go to my Facebook page and read the horrible comments for yourself. http://Facebook.com/PeterSchiff

I think you missed the point the Peter was trying to make toward the end of the video :)

The point I understood that Peter was making by the end of the video was 'check out my facebook page,' 'like me on facebook', and 'add more comments to my youtube videos in response to the other comments'.

I won't comment much further, lest I create an outrage similar to the time when I pointed out Tom Woods might not have come out to an event because the speaker's purse wasn't large enough.

Indeed, there's a reason their messages are consistently reaching you; there's big incentives for them to reach you. There's nothing wrong with that. I just like shining light on these things lest people not realize, just like Schiff said in the video.

Personally I wouldn't disagree with walmart raising their wages. I'm willing to pay a little extra if it helps the workers to get paid more. I'm not for have the government use force to make it happen though.

I think its fair if you work hard you should get paid good no matter what job your doing....If there is 1 job that is an absolutely miserable job to have its being a cashier...its brutal specially through the holidays. They should get paid much more for doing that job...I won't have that job no way they'd have to raise the wage quite a bit more before I'd do that job again.

Lots of jobs are hard but require little skill and don't add a lot to the bottom line. I've been a cashier when I was in high school (at a toy store at the holiday season), its not that hard.

If Walmart started to raise their prices to pay their workers more then shoppers would simply go somewhere else and decrease their sales leading to lower revenue and profits. How is that good for workers there?

Too bad a person can't get paid for how much they profit the employer. These days, everyone thinks they should get the same pay as another person doing the same job, even if the other person is doing more in that job. Now, employers have to make up new job titles in order to give a raise to a good employee so that the others don't bitch about it.

No wonder people are thinking that they are "owed" something.

Little skill or not hard work deserves good pay. If it was such a good job why didn't you stay with the job? Cause it SUCKS!...LOL....That was my point. Its boring as hell and during the holidays its very stressful, feet hurt, back hurt and no matter what problems you might have you have to smile and be nice to the customers...I won't do that job for that little pay no way that's all I'm saying....That's why I don't have that job anymore too.

If the prices of goods and services were significantly lower then WalMart workers would be making plenty of money.

Inflation is insidious.

Can somebody post some good comments from facebook? I really hate facebook with a passion.

Mike Stone :

"The problem is Mr. Schiff, is that you are focusing on a small minority of advocates for a living wage who say that the median wage should be $15.00/hr. What you call "the left" is not really putting $15/hr out there, are they now Mr. Schiff. If you were informed, you would know that the bulk of this conversation has been about raising the minimum wage that a vast majority of Walmart employees make - something that averages about $8.50/hr (about $15,000/yr) - to something that is arguably livable like $12.00/hr. Why don't you run those numbers. If Walmart were to pass this cost directly to shoppers, the average consumer would need to pay only 46 cents more per shopping trip, or $12.50 per year according to credible economists."

Met Fraser:

"Because just asking the corporation to cut into it's enormous profits a little to pay workers a fair wage is unconscionable for you. You are a disgrace and truly utterly worthless, and should forever be ashamed of yourself."

Greg Fast (in response to someone saying Walmart only has a 3% profit margin):

"It is only a 3% profit margin because the salary of the CO make 23 mil."

Tom Lee:

"Peter, I think you misunderstood the point of these people. We still want low prices, but we hope Walmart would lower their profit margins to give higher wages."

Steve Dwyer:

"Hey Peter do you really think the average person does not see through your BS? You go to a Wal-mart and ask shoppers if they like to pay more money? come on why didn't you just ask them if they like to get a root cannel at Wal-Mart? you know the answer is NO. Better idea why not go ask the Walton's if they can get up off of those BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars they made so they can pay their workers a decent living wage. OH but KIDS are supposed to be working at Wal-Mart KIDS? so your telling us that the jobs at Wal-Mart are for kids? You know that's not possible just another BS story. Then you say these mystery companies are supposed to be creating jobs? Why would they when they follow the same GREEDY Plan that YOU and WAL-MART and MCDONNALS and ALL GREDDY MEGA CORPERATIONS FOLLOW which is MAKE AS MUCH MONEY AS YOU CAN WHATEVER WAY YOU CAN AND AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN. then you would be at least telling the truth. INSTEAD of MAKING UP BULLSHIT STORIES"

Jeanne McLamb (this may be a troll):

"Your DISPICABLE SCHIFF Your bs about walmart jobs only for teenagers, its corp hogs like you so GREEDY AND HOGGY that have killed other jobs, the corporation business assholes like yourself don't want to pay their workers anything or rather go to slave labor in 3rd world countries, that's why there are no other jobs, because of greedy hogs like yourself YOUR DISPICABLE."

Kelly Bokenfohr:

"The US would have to resurrect slavery and child labor if they want a true capitalist system. Nothing gets produced without labor and labor is receiving an ever shrinking share of economic gains hence the huge gap in income disparity."

I actually haven't read any violent sounding comments. It was probably one of those things where a few people said it then the reaction to those comments is way larger in scope than the comments themselves.
