Hi! Thanks for posting this...I'm from Massachusetts and for the delegate selection process reads as follows :

Selection Method
Primary, Caucus, State Committee Meeting

I'm new to this, but does this mean that after I vote in the primaries, I stay to try an become a delegate?

I thought all contests prior to April were proportional, but FL and SC say winner-take-all? Also, delegates elected at county/state conventions seems to be a plus for us in SC, but in FL they're chosen by the State Executive Board of the party

Man this sucks!! Pennsylvania is so late that by the time it comes around for are turn to vote for the Republican we will already have a clear front runner or know who will more likely have the best chance to win. I still think that everyone should vote at the same time no matter if it is an election for president or election for party representative.

Hmm it looks like Florida has been penalized for bumping our primary date. If I've read it correctly Florida supposedly had 100 delegates, but only has 50 now...

Yes, stay and offer to be a delegate or have someone nominate you. It was my first time as well, and I became a delegate for our precinct. The other delegate is a Ron Paul supporter as well.

Thank you Bruno!! I have been trying to figure out how this works but am finding little explanations...should I also prepare a letter of intent? Also is it difficult to be selected? Is it sort of like a popularity contest? Should I prepare some sort of speech? Do I say I want to be a delegate for Ron Paul? Or do I keep quiet about being a Ron Paul girl?

FLORIDA 2012

Penalized 49 delegates per Rule No. 16
Important Dates
Primary: 1/31/12

Selection Method
Primary
Delegates Bound for 3 Ballots
o 50 Bound
Selection Details*
AL – Delegate allocation: winner-take-all per statewide

At-Large. State Party Rule 10.

Just so I understand...

Florida's delegates will be selected by a "State Executive Board"????

I vote against sticky.. Usually, stickied posts become a stagnant. This is an important issue that will be bumped regularly on its own.

Let the free market drive its importance! ;)

I'll be collecting all of this information into a website soon. Need assistance with graphic design though.

EDIT: Bummer. The information for Indiana filing date is wrong. Take this information with a grain of salt, folks. It needs to be vetted before it's shouted from the rooftops.

I think the Indiana date is right. The deadline to file a as a "candidate for delegate" is earlier but delegates are certified after the primary.

All the info in the pdf should be used as a guide. If you want specific state instructions, go to your state subforum and look for info. There's a lot of posts from 2008 that describe the process.

Don't buy into the thinking that if your state is late, then you have no chance. This is party conditioning at its best. If you want Ron to win, gather all of RP supporters you know and devise a plan.

California is one of the last coming in at June 6th but we'll be damned if we don't win some delegates for the old man.

I signed up to be a delegate for CT through RonPaul2012.com/Delegate - Do I need to do anything else? This was awhile ago. Thank you.

That's correct to an extent, but the May date is all but irrelevant. You have until February 11th in Indiana to file to become a delegate. Anything past that and you rely on your county chair to grace you with an appointment. I was a state delegate in 2008 and 2010, once elected and once appointed.

The date mentioned in the PDF pertains only to the county chairs and challenging eligibility, not the actual date to file to become delegate. The official form to file for delegate in Indiana can be found here: http://www.in.gov/sos/elections/files/CAN-37_(2012_revision).pdf

Whoa, I had no idea the campaign had a page set up.. This needs to be promoted more. I will look into the process for CT and see if there are any deadlines coming up that the campaign may have missed.
