Iowa Independent predicting Ron Paul to make at least third
Posted on December 7, 2007 by Lance

Were the elections held today, the Iowa Independent believes that Ron Paul would at least take third place–a decently strong finish, and even stronger if he wins New Hampshire shortly after. I’ve wondered before if Ron Paul could win Iowa, particularly after some hints the Iowa Independent made earlier. Here’s their latest prediction:

Third Place

Ron Paul — The more we think about it, the more we conclude that none of the remaining candidates on this list have a strong base of support the way Rep. Paul does. His unlikely coalition of supporters does not include many typical caucus-goers, but they are devoted. And to top it all off, the campaign appears to be fairly well organized here, with paid calls, visibility (television, radio, billboards), and direct outreach efforts. Much about the Paul campaign will remain up in the air until caucus night, but a third place finish would certainly raise some eyebrows heading into New Hampshire.

I think we're gonna win people.
I really do.

We are going to take third in Iowa and first or second in NH. Nevada, third again.

In the end, we probably "win", but since the elections are rigged, we won't get nominated nor win the presidency.

I think that when we do well in the primaries his name and message will be unleashed.

Then he won't be stoppable.

His message will win and the republicans will back him as the way to beat the democrats.

Don't be so negative.

Ron Paul will probably win NH,NV and IA but he won't get any electoral votes and also the elections are indeed rigged. We all know that it's set up for Hillary to be the next president. I'm not a troll but it's true. I mean this campaign isn't all about winning, yes thats a big part of it but it's also to show our current government that not everyone in this country is a damn fool and that there are alot of us that are awake to their doings. It's about sending a message to them that there is enough of us awake and we're not going to take it.

Not in it to win it? So what's the point? I wouldn't be donating my time and money if I didn't think there was a chance for victory.

There is a chance for victory in Iowa! There is a chance for victory in New Hampshire! A 3rd place in Iowa keeps you in the ball game, but victory shall be ours! New Hampshire is a must win and victory shall be ours! A win in Iowa for Ron Paul basically clinches the nomination.

I optimistically think the same, except the part about the Republican establishment ever backing him. They would rather have another President Clinton, because she stands for essentially the same policies as George Bush.

haha Republicans won't vote democrat..........doesn't matter if it was george bush's face on a robot.

People are loyal to party......people that would vote for bush anyway.

IF Ron gets 3rd (Or Higher) in Iowa and 1st in NH there will be huge momentum going into SC and NV where he could potentially go 2nd (maybe 1st) and 1st respectively.

Yeah, it's weird to see 2 people being so doubtful.

We haven't even unleashed the blimp or the 16th.

It's gonna be great!

"Well since Ron Paul won Iowa and New Hampshire, we're just going to close the rest of the activities. Now someone go wake up Fred Thompson."

If Paul gets top 3 in IA and NH then his chances go way up. He'll get frontrunner treatment which means he's on or discussed on every news channel throughout the day. BS background pieces are written about his family, faith and how he grew up.

3rd place in IA and NH will take this campaign to the top.

Always bugs me to see people doubt us.

And the electoral college WILL go the way of the votes, please provide any precedent for otherwise.

you sound like an agent provocateur!!! j/k, but this is no time to be negative. There is still a ton of upside in Ron Paul's run. He can win this thing. Republicans are in a heap of trouble.

Third in IA would be huge.

Paul could win, don't doubt it. Right now in 2004, Dean had a 34 point lead on Kerry.

The blimp is still coming.

Dec 15-16 is still coming.

We're all still talking to people about RP too, right?

Guys, there are less than 3 million people in Iowa. 450,000 of their Independent registered voters, and soon to be 700,000, have recieved hand-written letters from Paul supporters; these Independents are 100% unaccounted for in the polls we've seen, and Iowa is extremely anti-war (I would'nt be surprised if their independents are more proportionately anti-war than the Democrats with 86%). That being said, I'm expecting 1st Place.

Oh, and "experts" (no offense, they just don't do homework, so they don't see how radically new and different the 2008 election is due to Ron Paul) expect 100,000 people to vote in the Iowa Causues. Lol.

This is a serious concern of mine too. If this happens that means that we actually had the support to win the nomination so an independent run might not be so unsuccessful. The way RP seems to affect people's involvement and emotions in the political process, I cant help but think this might be a case where a third party is successfully introduced to our system.

Abyss19562 and LibertyInNY are both trolls, go away.

I personally think we can get first in Iowa and New Hampshire. :)
