Paul surges past Bush in new California Poll

It could be Rand is trying to undercut the impact of not winning Iowa or NH by keeping a low media profile, while preparing to finish well above expectations. Meaning, 4th place or higher in either contest, and/or finishing above Bush. Afterwards, the media will have a harder time justifying pressuring him to quit if they aren't doing the same for Jeb.

Absolutely is! Remember California accounts for 14% of all delegates needed to win the nomination. This could be HUGE!

Huckabee and Santorum if they fail in Iowa, Kasich if he fails in NH, maybe Christie or Bush too since there will be a lot of pressure to unite behind one establishment candidate to defeat the others. Rubio appears to be banking on SC.

Establishment candidates are on the same team. Jeb is team Iowa, Christie is team NH, and Rubio is team SC. I don't think that they are going out of their way not to step on each others toes on accident. Cruz just doubled down on Iowa by going to the right of Trump on immigration though, which means that they aren't on the same team. I think Rand is going to have trouble in Iowa because of Cruz flip flopping on amnesty, it was the right move for Cruz to take but it's going to be a lot harder to win Iowa.

I think I posted that on here too, i said that when he answered the question wrong in the debate, I said all he had to do is rule out EVER supporting amnesty right then and there. It will be another thing whether or not people give him a second chance on the question but I think the people that want that policy would bend over backwards and plug their ears at everything else they say to support a candidate that they think will do it.
