Just talking to Robert. Looks like it will cost $1,500 for Thursday and he's a supporter, so that is the cost of gas. Seems like the debate/straw poll is a 2 day thing - right? He can do both days for $3,000.

On Thursday he can start at 8pm and fly for an hour.
On Friday he has a commitment so can't be there till 9pm but is also willing to fly for an hour.

I don't want to knock this because I like the idea, but it's a bit disingenuous to assume that gas for a Cessna 172 for two hours of operation would cost $3,000.

He doesn't live in Orlando. it's an hour and a half round trip each day to get there and back then an hour of flying each day. That's 5 hours of flight time as well as maintenance costs and he has to replace very expensive halogen bulbs on a regular basis. My saying "gas" was simplistic - he is doing it for cost. He is a supporter.

He also kicks on the Ron Paul messages between jobs, flying from city to city.

I don't know still seems pretty high from what other pilots are saying the yearly costs are to maintain and fly their aircraft, even with the equivalent cost of bulbs that are used on the good year blimp included. If the man want's to make money to cover other costs aside from what is needed to fly during these hours I have no problem with that, plenty of people make money through advertising Ron Paul, just don't like the idea of being mislead.

My impression is that that is his operating cost. If you are being mislead - so am I.
