According to the following article, Kurt Bills is behind Amy Klobuchar in fundraising by a large margin.... Klobuchar has $5.5 million to Kurt's $64,000. We need to raise some money for him. I'm proposing a 3-day Money Bomb the weekend of August 3-5. Please donate that weekend to help Bills defeat Klobuchar.

Kurt Bills really needs the money. And YAL is working for Cruz, but not Bills apparently, which surprises me. (At least in their job listing they mention Cruz and not Bills)

It doesnt look good, organized, active....

What are his chances?

The RNC was running his main primary competitor (who bowed out by prior agreement when Bills won the endorsement at Paul controlled convention) to get him visibility and name recognition, not expecting him to win. The Dem is well entrenched, but also voted for NDAA and the Patriot Act extension and I think Bills can make hay with that if he gets the money for ads. That 'if' looks to be a serious 'if' however, given the money to date.

I think Minnesota is ripe for a Ron Paul candidate. Romney came in THIRD in the caucuses there, and many Dems are pissed about NDAA.

Dont get me wrong I am all for it but same sentiment people had about Karen K. and she didnt get even this far.... I guess "time will tell".
5 million to 100k (lets say it) is huge handicap.

Yeah, the conventional thought is that she has a safe seat, but she has never run against a Ron Paul Republican before.

the money gap is a real issue though. This is Ron's #1 Senator pick this go round, however, which wasn't the case with others, so I'm rooting for him.

(I've donated to him, too.)

Speaking of Ted Cruz, if he wins his run-off, we need to ask him to help Bills raise money from Texas republicans. I heard him on radio the other day and he was saying that he's almost sure to win the general election if he's the Republican nominee. He won't need to campaign as hard for the general so he said he'd like to use some of that time to fundraise for other Republican Senate candidates around the country. He also pointed out that Texas is a great state for raising money from Republicans and conservatives. I think this would work since he'll be seen as a real giant-killer if he knocks off David Dewhurst.

Do you think he would? He didn't even endorse Ron.

I'm gonna throw him ten or twenty bucks tonight (we're not wealthy) and I'm in for the moneybomb, too. :)

He didn't endorse Ron because it would have hurt his campaign and he can't afford to make any mistakes in this race, given what he's up against. Pretty much the entire Republican establishment in Texas is circling the wagons for Dewhurst. Ted's only advantage is his grassroots support. That support would have been needlessly divided if he had endorsed Ron since many of these people were backing Santorum. I know that Santorum dropped out before the Texas primary but a lot of these people have been brainwashed into thinking Ron's foreign policy is anti-American and dangerous. I wish that weren't so and I don't like it, but that's the reality. Addison had nothing to lose in endorsing Ron since he had 0 chance of winning. Even then, he only endorsed after it became an issue for Ted. I probably shouldn't bring any of this up since its all water under the bridge but I got sick of hearing this particular attack.

I don't see any reason why he wouldn't help Bills. Bills is the Republican nominee for Senate. I'm sure the neo-cons and the establishment still don't like that, but even they are not openly attacking him. Besides both Ron and Rand went out of their way to help Ted and he really should return the favor by helping the man they've endorsed in Minnesota.

I'm trying to push this Money Bomb and could use some help, nationally, if you guys are up to helping. Kurt is WAY behind in fundraising but history shows that the races between the Republican and Democrat Senators are close. Also, this year, the Libertarian Party and Constitution Party aren't running anyone, which only helps. Remember, four years ago, Stuart Smalley....errr... Al Franken barely beat out Neo-Con Norm Coleman by less than 1,000 votes. This race will be closer than the media admits and the less the media talks about the race, the better it is for Kurt. But the fact remains, he needs to raise money.

I'm not to familiar with creating facebook pages, but could someone do me a huge favor and make one for this Money Bomb? Maybe even a website? I would appreciate it.

Also, in Minnesota there seems to be ALOT of establishment Republicans hoping that Bills fails to prove that the Paul supporters don't belong in the party. Which, I believe, is a reason that the Paul's are having a Fundraiser for Bills in a state other than Minnesota.

this^^

I'll edit your title to let people know you need help with the money bomb.

Perhaps we could link up with DP on this as they tend to have more unique traffic because it's a blog, afaik. Plus, I bet Ron could even get on board with this and get the whole email troop thing going. If we can get Bills into the 100ks ballpark then maybe other national conservative groups may get involved, like C4G & Demint's Senate Conservatives. Also, I'm still waiting to hear back from the Liberty for all outfit to see where they're spending their coin.

My folks are from MN, they said there was a republican running in the democrat primary to try and beat out Amy K there. Anyone hear of this? Might be easier to donate the republican trying to take her out in the primary then trying to overcome the republicans and democrats.

I stopped by the Republican campaign office to drop off some Kurt Bills stuff today and they immediately moved all the material into the back room, some might say "big deal" but when there is only 1 Bills sign in the entire room, you'd think they would want to put some out in the open for people to grab. I'll swing by in a couple days to see if they moved any into the open area. I'm not optimistic, though.

Hm.

This is one of the hardest races we have. At some point we will have to evaluate if it is winnable, but first we need to give it a shot and get it some attention.

I still think Gov. Ventura's support would help in a state where non-GOP voters are needed, even though I dislike much about the guy. He is probably in Mexico though.
