April 18th and 19th 2009.
Shoots are scheduled acrossed the country and more are being added all the time.

See the schedule at http://www.appleseedinfo.org/as_schedule.htm for one near you.

New York and Pennsylvania (my location) both have shoots set up. Current military, all women and people under 21 can attend FREE.
Regardless of your skill level or other type of training you are now doing, Appleseed will improve your skills and knowledge of our heritage.

Looks like there still are none coming to NJ  And none are within 4 hours from me either.

Hasn't been one near me either. I might try to make the one in New Mexico in April, but it will still be a long drive to get there.

An Appleseed shoot can be set up on as liitle as 1/10th of an acre that has a safe backstop. RWVA Appleseed can handle the rest. Targets, target backers, Instructors, insurance etc.

So here is a plan....
Contact your Appleseed State Coordinator, or closest state that has one. Contact info is at the Appleseedinfo.org forum. Clear your overgrown back lot, dump some fill for a backstop. Get everyone you know to attend the shoot. Learn the six steps to becoming a Rifleman, then take the seventh step. Train to become an Instructor. Become a teacher of our history and heritage.

I know of a fellow Patriot from Brooklyn that has drivin at least twice to an Appleseed Shoot that was over 600 miles away. One in North Carolina and one in Georgia(I think). And another that drove from Iowa to NC, One from Indiana to NC, one from Pennsylvania, from Texas, Others from South Carolina, Florida, And other states that I cannot recall.

These folks made it to Appleseeds when they were not around every corner in the US. --- Like they are now.

Here are some shoots that don't seem to far away. <300 miles

Athol, MA—Feb 7 & 8
Allemans, PA—April 18 & 19 (233 miles from Camden, NJ, only 4 hours and 17 minutes of drive time.)
Bennington, VT—April 18 & 19
Havard, MA—April 18 & 19
Bennington, VT —June 20 & 21
New Breman, NY—June 20 & 21

The Appleseed schedule

I copied your Sig a while back...because appleseed is THAT important!!!:o:cool:

I use it elsewhere to spead the word!

Are complete Novices permitted to attend RBC's? If so, it is difficult to imagine that they would have acquired a rifle beforehand -- a complete Novice being clueless.

What the RWVA (Revolutionary War Veterans Association) is all about:

The Appleseed Program is designed to take you from being a simple rifle owner to being a true rifleman. All throughout American history, the rifleman has been defined as a marksman capable of hitting a man-sized target from 500 yards away — no ifs, ands or buts about it. This 500-yard range is traditionally known as "the rifleman's quarter-mile;" a rifleman can hit just about any target he can see. This skill was particulary evident in the birth of our country, and was the difference in winning the Revolutionary War.

So why me?

This country was founded and won by riflemen who fought and beat British forces. We invite all interested marksmen to learn the skills and techniques necessary to shoot proficiently; and then hope you'll participate in teaching and practicing with others so that together we can save this great land. Why you? Well, that's simple: if you're on this page we're betting you're a patriot, and we hope you answer the call.

What's a rifleman?

In short, a rifleman is an armed American, trained in the tradition of American Liberty. It's a man who has learned to shoot a rifle accurately — accurate enough to score "expert" on the Army Qualification Course. Until you can do that, you're considered a "Cook," unprepared and unqualified to carry a rifle on the firing line of freedom. But after attending an Appleseed AQT shoot, you'll have the credentials necessary to be a true rifleman, and will understand the critical need for defending freedom in this country.

The RWVA is dedicated to the Appleseed Program and encourages every American to learn to shoot.

The reason I ask is because, intuitively, the people most in need of training are least apt to own weapons and least apt to know what to buy. At the same time, particularly after viewing photos of some of the guns that ARE owned, it is difficult to imagine that an organization has weapons to loan -- like tennis rackets or golf clubs.

Many instructors have "Liberty Training Rifles" (Ruger 10/22) that they have pieced together for folks that do not own a rifle... BUT, this is between you and the instructor. Check with the instructors of your particular shoot to see if they have one available.

Thank you.

Dear Sir:

I am made acquainted with your organization via a liberty-oriented message board. After a lifetime of indifference to guns, changes in the euphemistic "conditions on the ground" suggest that gun ownership and weapons training is now a matter of prudent responsibility for all American Citizens.

While i am interested in attending the RBC in your state, i am unclear whether total novices are welcome and, if they are, what is the protocol regarding a rifle? It is difficult to imagine that you loan them out like tennis rackets or golf clubs, but it is even more difficult to imagine that total novices shall go out and buy rifles sans knowledge or experience. Kindly advise.

"Happy New Year" always tended toward canned insincerity, but now it's ridiculous. Best of luck to all of us in 2009 -- we'll need it.

Out-farking standing! They are getting an early start on the planning. And it's only 4.5 months to Patriot Day!

I think this year we will paint an APC in Culpepper motif and drive it around Seattle.

I'd just go ahead and buy yourself a 10/22. They are fairly cheap, you can buy a new one at Wal Mart for about $200. If you hunt around for a used one in the classifieds, at pawn shops, or at the gun show you might be able to get one even cheaper.

They are a great gun for beginners and a fine addition to any collection. You will be able to get started at the appleseed shoot with it, and maybe while you are there you can check out some of the other rifles people bring. That might help you decide what to look for when you are ready to step up to something bigger. Some of them might even be nice enough to let you fire a few shots.

Great idea! And while you are at it don't forget to order a set of tech-sights.

...and don't forget the lock-tite.

We do welcome the total novice. There is something for everybody at an Appleseed or RBC, no matter what your skill level, everybody will learn a lot. Total novices are often better because they have no bad habits to unlearn. I was like that and shot Rifleman my first weekend.

As far as a rifle is concerned, our instructors often have what we call Liberty Training Rifles that they are willing to loan out. They are basically a Ruger 10/22 that they've tweaked with tech sights to look and feel more like a M14. Since it's a .22 it's much cheaper to shoot for training but the skills you learn will apply to all types of rifles. If you are needing a rifle to use, please let me know so I can get you in contact with somebody that has one to lend.

Cool, am I right?

None for KY yet? Shoot!
Depending on what part of KY you are from, there is a program starting in WV, and I know they have events in TN/OH.

If you are interested in attending something in WV--central part of state--PM me and I can explain further.

I will also soon post dates for WV events in...you guessed it...the WV section of this forum.

Hope this helps and we'd love for you to attend. :)

Cool, am I right?

You read it right! Appleseed works with folks at whatever skill level they bring. The main item to bring is a teachable attitude. This is not a competition to see who can outshoot each other, although it might aid as a motivational tool to have a desire to out score...say, your spouse or friend, for example. :D

The desire should be to learn what sacrifices the Founders and others made in the formative stages of America, along with the skill that won our independence...Rifleman marksmanship. The journey is self-improvement through gathering amongst like-minded folks who are dedicated to teaching American Heritage and rifle marksmanship.

This a great opportunity to meet and be around like minded people, listen to very important historical speeches regarding the beginning of the American Revolution AND to learn some outstanding rifle marksmanship skills.

"Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will use it well. If you do not, I will repent in heaven that we ever took the time to preserve it." - John Adams
