On MSNBC's "Morning Joe" just now Chris Matthews and Pat Buchanan were arguing about the democratic race. Then Matthews told Buchanan "you've lost your horse in the (Republican) race so now you rip the Democrats" and Buchanan said "Ron Paul's still in the race"
He has said other good things about Dr. P in the past, even though I don't think he's ever actually endorsed RP. One more conservative that we can point to to help convince those unbound delegates to vote for RP.

eh, he gives us credit, I'm guessing a lot of people are just cautious of supporting the anti-establishment candidate while being a part of the establishment.

I think he held off initially because his sister was running tancredo's campaign

perhaps he'd lose his megaphone if he was seen to endorse ron paul. i'm hoping he's just being stealthy

It would be nice if Buchanan comes out and says it point-blank at some point. Perhaps if Huck drops out and Dr. Paul is the last option to McCain. I mean, come on, Buchanan should be the last one concerned about ramifications of taking a stand.

This is the guy who ran as a third party candidate in 2000 on the Reform Party ticket as a conservative alternative to Bush.

"My man man, Pat Buchanan" (For all you Ali G fans out there). Pat B is okay in my book. If you've followed the daily goings on MSNBC since the first GOP debate, you can tell that Buchanan would be down with a Paul presidency. He's tried to plug Ron Paul or some his platform as much as he could. If you saw the day of the NH primary on Morning Joe, he and Scarborough were talking about who NH might pick that day. Pat B said described himself as an anti-war conservative, and Scarborough was saying stuff like just maybe NH would pick another anti-war, limited-government, true conservative, insinuating Ron Paul.

Buchanan is in the belly of the beast right now, and whether or not he MAY endorse anyone (by contract), he would be better off not "endorsing" Dr. Paul. Besides, will he change your mind about Dr. Paul if he did endorse Ron Paul, of course not. Buchanan has been overwhelmingly positive when it comes to Dr. Paul, he may not agree 100% with the entire platform, but then again, a lot of us supporters may not either.

"If I were president, I would change everything, and that's why I'll never win" - Pat B.

He knows exactly what Ron Paul is facing.

He knows exactly what Ron Paul is facing.

Exactly.

And that's why if he were truly a patriot he would have endorsed him long ago no matter what it cost him. That's what true patriots do. They risk something for liberty.

Buchanan and all of them are nothing but lip service. Pretenders, they are all to cozy in their positions to go out and actually support someone who stands for everything they SAY they believe in.

Unlike our founding fathers who risked it all for liberty and this country. Buchanan, Dobbs, every hollywood/musician libertarian, Beck, the list is endless. Sit in their comfort zone and talk but do nothing. They should all be ashamed of themselves. F them.

I don't know if Buchanan losing his job to endorse Ron Paul would really make that huge of a difference. Most of Pat's fans probably already know about Ron Paul, he gets mentioned on Pat's website. Talking good about Ron is just as good if you ask me. He's endorsed Paul as much as his contract lets him. Give him a break!

He could be talking about how "crazy" and out there ron paul is like all the others.

Also on this same show, Chris Mathews went into a fairly lengthy discussion of how we should get out of the war with Iraq. Was rather Paulesque.

Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. Buchanan spent 15 years from about 1985-2000 fighting for many of the ideas that Dr. Paul supports, though they by no means agree on all issues from A-Z. Buchanan did sit out in '88 when many conservatives encouraged him to run. He focused his work on TV seeing that he is a communication specialist. He then challenged an incumbent President in '92 and went on to run in '96 before trying to go the Reform Party route in 2000 when in '99 it had become apparent the fix was in and the party was going with W. Bush regardless.

He has worked his way back to a regular TV gig after a couple of failed attempts after 2000 and he isn't a young man anymore, not to mention heart surgery during the 1999 campaign. For someone of your ilk to say he isn't a fighter because he wants to earn a living and not endorse a candidate, that apparently never took his own campaign seriously, is repulsive.

Buchanan has done more at the end of the 20 century to preserve our Republic than any other figure, including Ron Paul.

True. Maybe he is slowing offering his support because he doesn't want to stick his neck out.
Hopefully he will speed this process up and give an endorsement.

And then she moved over to work for Romney's campaign. (Can you say sell-out?)

Pat's Magazine The American Conservative did endorse Ron Paul for President.

There is no excuse for Pat not being more outspoken in his support for Ron Paul. He should put his country above his status within the establishment. It's just too important and he KNOWS it.

P.S.
It's BUCHANAN - not Buchanon or Buchannan

Thank you for the respectful words there. Despite them I stand by my comments.
