My husband and I have several weapons. I'm so pro-2nd, it's almost stupid. My issue is with open-carry at demonstrations and town halls. I think it is too provacative and will cause problems we don't need.

Sure go ahead why not? I dont own any guns. But have no problem with open carry people. I find that most bad guys like to hide their weapons before use.

I think it's only "too provacative" because people aren't used to seeing the right exercised. Instead of only practicing OC at demos and town halls, people should be practicing OC regularly to reinforce their right.

I agree. I have to have a permit to conceal carry and I don't like the idea of getting permission to do something I should be able to do without permission. I believe we should be able to carry our weapons any way we wish with no requirement for state permission to do so.

The biggest problem I have with open carry is the problem of getting into a car and having to lock it up in the process, then getting out of the car and having to unlock it again. This entire procedure should not be necessary.

I think FreeTraveler is right, but I also know there's a lot of idiots and potential provacateur-types at these gatherings.

I really like what the FSP is doing with open-carry community clean-ups that Dave Ridley often reports on, I'd like to see a lot more open carry so it doesn't get the slack-jawed response that so many experience.

I am an advocate of Unrestricted Carry. Whether Open or Concealed, it is nobody's business. Especially not the governments.
I think that everyone should be free to carry any "arm"they choose. I prefer Open Carry, and the only times I carried concealed was when I was involved in criminal behavior.

I remember when most Pick-ups had gun racks, and we brought our guns to school.I don't remember any problems then. In fact, the problems only started after numerous laws were in place.

So how do you spot a concealed carry idiot? or tell a good cop from a bad one?
And what about unarmed idiots?

Idiots are everywhere.

To point #1. I am not a Gelding, and have no problem with testosterone, I believe I have a normal supply.

As to #2. Those exist, and I have been known to be provocative. but am hardly a govt agent.
I suspect that the Brady Org. is quite opposed to Open Carry. I would provoke them at any opportunity.

btw, testosterone is a good thing in males, despite what some may try to tell you.

Cops don't respect anyone without a gun. If there were enough people with guns at these events to outnumber the cops, they might realize who they work for.

I think it is good that people are exercising their right to open carry. However, myself I prefer to conceal. This is to make sure that the people around me don't realize how dangerous I really can be. Same reason I don't go bragging about how many people I've F'ed up in combat both armed and unarmed among civilians, and the same reason that English Shepherds are bred to look like sheep. Keeps the wolves guessing. Who's a threat to criminals and who isn't? They don't know!

Open carry is a way of desensitizing people to the fact that people do have guns. I don't see a problem with that.

Open carry AND concealed. A responsible person paying attention should decide for themselves. There are instances I would carry concealed, and there are instances I would open carry. How the general public perceives one excercising ones right doesn't

play a part in an individuals self preservation tactic.

It is an individuals right. The individual knows what's best for themselves.

But alas in Hawaii, open carry and concealed are BOTH infringed.
