You near Cumberland or Frostburg?

I'm heading down to the Western Maryland RR once they get #1309 up and running again.

We'll have to meet up and knock back a bourbon or three.

No no, neither do I.

Would be a blast to see if we can drag osan and Philll4paul and cjm along as well.

Will keep that in mind as repairs on 1309 progress.

MD is one of my least favorite jurisdictions but for RPFers and bourbon, I'm in. I'll also be in NH later this summer. Last year I didn't make it at all and the year before I was just there for two days. It should be a long enough stay this year to have some brown water up there with you as well. I'll keep you posted.

Let me know before you leave , maybe I can kick in a silver dollar for bail money for PAF, lol

Have they even found somebody with the forge to cast those rods? That's a lost art, and a bigger casting job than most.

Thx for the tie-in CJ but I haven't the foggiest clue what the 1309 is?

Would it help if I said it's a throwback compound articulated Mallet? Or would that leave you wondering how it's possible to use a hammer with swivel joints in the handle?

Or to put it another way, big, strong and slow.

...foggiest clue...

Compound steamers are known to leak a lot, so foggy clues are the best kind.

That looks like fun, but Maryland is a bit far for me for a bourbon. A camp out might be fun

An excuse to meetup with RPFers.

Yes, and the furthest corners of IN are closer than where AF is coming from.

Depending on time of year, I'll probably be camping.

I suspect my quoted mentions didn't alert the original cast of characters, so....

I'm in, fellas - just keep me posted because I know f**k all about trains! I know a few places in that area where we could gather for a drink, etc.

I'm 225 miles from Cumberland and 213 from Frostburg.

And if any of you all stop by the Southern Appalachian area, drop me a line.

Another, slightly different type of "ma lay" in an iconic O. Winston Link photo.

This is framed and hung on my office wall.
