Hi folks, I requested this sub-forum for the purpose of having an efficient way to link those who would like to donate toward others attending the SRLC straw poll with those who are available to attend but are short on cash. In order to reduce the risk of any of our rivals getting support from us, I've requested that the forum be invisible to Google/non-members like Hot Topics is. I started working on a website serving this function last week, but gave up on it due to the potential for abuse by our rivals being too great.

Anyway, here is how I envision this working: Anyone who wants support (ticket purchase, transportation, lodging, etc) starts a new thread in this forum with "Help Needed" in the subject line. The body of your post should tell us exactly what/how much you need and why. It should also convince us you are not a Romney or Palin shill. The more of a newbie you are to the forums, the harder you may have to work at this, but feel free to get more prominent forum members to vouch for you in the thread. The same considerations apply to those offering help. I would advise against accepting offers of assistance made only by PM. If all offers of help are public, it will be easier for us to identify any saboteurs.

Don't take anyone's skepticism personally--this is, after all, the highest-stakes politics in the country (and probably the world) we're playing with and we'd be foolish to think our enemies are not watching and seeking to sabotage us.

Put an exclamation point icon (such as the one I've attached to this post) on your post so that anyone browsing the forum knows that your needs have not yet been met. Once your needs have been met, edit your post ("Go Advanced") by replacing the exclamation point with a thumbs up icon. This will indicate to others browsing this sub-forum in search of someone to support that they do not need to open your thread.

I am also working on a website to encourage participation in the SRLC straw poll by Ron Paul supporters (analogous to a moneybomb website) that will send private emails promoting ronpaulforums.com as a place where sponsors and people who can attend the conference can hook up. So we may get a wave of newbies with no posting history asking for help in this forum (hopefully we do). This is why I think we need a separate thread for each request for help: So that any potential donor can get to know who they're donating to before they shell out their money.

I don't see the subsidization of tickets by Campaign for Liberty as negating the relevance of this forum, because there are plenty of costs besides conference registration. Even if you are buying a $30 ticket from C4L, feel free to request help with transportation and lodging as well.

Oh yes, and mods, please sticky this thread within this forum.

Also, if things get a little too disorganized in this sub-forum, I'd be happy to help moderate it.

Updating post from 2010. I'm looking to attend this year 2011 and need help with gas. If you can spare $5 or $10, don't think it's too little - the bits add up! Thanks in advance.

Too bad I didn't see the OP before posting a chipin thread with a "thumbs up" icon :( - I have asked for a mod to change it to a "!" for me.

I tried this after mistakenly placing a "thumbs up" on my OP. It still appears with "thumbs up" next to it in the topic list. I think only mods can change this item.
