ObamaCare Enrolling Vastly More in Medicaid Than in Private Insurance

“In Washington, of the more than 35,000 people newly enrolled, 87 percent signed up for Medicaid. In Kentucky, out of 26,000 new enrollments, 82 percent are in Medicaid. And in New York, of 37,000 enrollments, Medicaid accounts for 64 percent.” Oregon, meanwhile, had signed up 56,000 people for Medicaid by October 17 but not a single one for private insurance

ROTGLMAO!

I was wondering about the rather low percentage of enrollments in NY, but stepped back a moment. Concidering just NYC, 37,000 enrollments out of a population of almost 8.5 Million people is NOTHING! Further, we are talking about a place where a pack of smokes is going to set you back $12-15 a pack and a hole in the wall, small, single room studio apt is going to run you at least $1,700 a month - if you are lucky. Pay rates are higher in these socialist paradises (SF, LA, NYC, Chicago...) but the government will only let you into Medicaid if you earn 138% or less of the poverty level. But that's a one size fits all, NATIONAL average of the poverty rate.

Bottom line is that the Dems and Obama's strongholds are not biting on Obamacare. w00t!!!!

The way I see it, the fine for year 1 is $95 and seeing that Insurance companies are not allowed to deny you insurance or rate hike due to pre existing condition, why not wait till you get sick to buy insurance? Whatever minor check up you pay out of pocket plus the penalty is never going to be more than the premium for Obamacare.

As a healthy person, you've got to have more money than sense to enroll in Obamacare

In theory, yes, but I was under the impression that if you were a smoker, your rates would be 2-3 times those of a non-smoker. Oh, yeah - and you get home visits for living in a non-healthy environment...

...and might even get your kids abducted for your sins...

God help you if you own a firearm - especially if it's black and scary looking!

Smokers yes but lets say if I developed diabetes while uninsured, the insurance companies cannot factor that into my rates. At least that's how I understand it.

Also smoking is not a pre existing condition
