Dear Friend of the Constitution,
Congratulations. Yes, congratulations! It's amazing what the difference of one year has been since we started Campaign for Liberty. The NY Campaign for Liberty has grown to nearly 9,000 members (and nearly 220,000 nationwide), and with our growth and those of our fellow NY liberty groups, we are changing the political climate and changing the conversation. In the midst of what many feel is a never-ending assault on our liberties and our Constitutional Republic by our elected (un)representatives, we are winning amazing victories that simply were not possible even a year ago. You are overturning adversity and converting it to opportunity. Below are some of the successes you have accomplished, followed by how we can take this momentum and bring the movement up to the next level.
Our Successes
*In August, NY State Health Department Commissioner Richard Daines, a non-elected state regulatory board member, issued a state-wide regulation requiring mandatory seasonal flu and H1N1 flu vaccine shots for all 520,000 NY state health care workers and those who work in health care facilities (accountants, janitors, etc) - or else they lose their jobs. It is a major civil liberty issue that crosses the line of what a government can force on a people. This led to major outrages, especially from nurses throughout the state. With help from NY Campaign for Liberty, several liberty groups, and nurses groups, multiple rallies were held in Albany and in Long Island in late September and October and garnered national exposure to the issue. This momentum helped push the unions and the NYCLU to finally take up the charge to publicly go after this blatant civil liberties violation and build up momentum. Hearings were held in NYC with NY state assemblymen that lasted over 13 hours against the mandate, and at least 2 active law suits pushing an injunction against the mandate are under way, with one successfully granted a hearing by the NY Supreme Court and a temporary injunction.
*In NY, thanks to you, we gathered nearly 4,000 signatures for Audit the Fed for our Mass Action Day last month. Special thanks to Robert Gawell, from Columbia County, who collected over 500 signatures himself and helped to coordinate another 200-300 as well. He will be getting a signed copy of Ron Paul's new NY Times bestseller, End the Fed. We had simultaneous statewide rallies in Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, NYC, and Long Island at the offices of Senators Schumer and Gillibrand. While Schumer and Gillibrand are number 1 and 2, respectively, of all the senators who receive the most contributions from the banking money trusts, Gillibrand indicates she is in general favor of an audit. The good news is that one of the last upstate NY US representatives, Brian Higgens, just cosponsored HR 1207, making a clean sweep for NY Congressional Districts 20-29 for cosponsoring the bill. We now need to put pressure on the remaining reps and ask why they support secrecy and are so strongly against transparency. We have 2 more in Long Island, 12 in NYC, as well as Lowey in Westchester and Hall in Poughkeepsie.
[Note: To make this Audit the Fed Mass Action Day happen, your humble state coordinator had to pay $1,500 out of pocket in copier costs, data entry, and delivery for the 5 cities. This is the equivalent of a mortgage payment. A donation of $20 or more from each of you to our new NY state fund would help alleviate costs, and additional amounts will help pay for Constitutions, literature, and Campaign for Liberty banners throughout the state. More info on the new fundraiser below. NY state donation page: https://www.campaignforliberty.com/contribute.php?for=NY]
*Last month, Campaign for Liberty held its largest Regional Conference in Valley Forge, PA, where over 600 members received some of the best political grassroots training ever on how to inflict the maximum amount of (political) pain on incumbents. Close to 70 NY members attended and had the opportunity to hear and meet Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, Thomas Woods, Judge Napolitano, Daniel Hannan, and others. These members are now ready to be the shakers and movers here in NY and to help train you to be successful for us to win in 2010 and beyond.
*Compare the amount of coverage Dr. Ron Paul is now getting compared to 2-3 years ago. He is now a superstar on all the national news stations. Four years ago, you would never hear anyone questioning the Federal Reserve on national media, and today it's all the rage. A book whose title is End the Fed would not have made it to be a NY Times bestseller. There is one major explanation for the change in political climate, and that my friends is simply... you. It is your courage to stand up to that which you know is wrong. It is your persistence in letting your elected representatives know that you are not going away.
When Barack Obama was elected, the media was calling it a new Democratic sweep across the country, and Newsweek announced that "We are all Socialists, Now." The unpopular bailouts and stimulus bills passed in record times even with major bipartisan resistance. But within a few months, the American populace could not take it anymore, and Campaign for Liberty joined up with our fellow NY liberty groups (Tea Party Patriots, 9/12'ers, We the People, the John Birch Society, Primary Challenge, and Conservative Society of America) to take a stand and protest Cap & Trade and the Health Care Reform (otherwise now known as the Insurance and Pharmaceutical Bailout bill). Rather than sweeping these bills in record time, you stopped the big government momentum and scared our representatives like Tim Bishop. Over time, most of this new Liberty coalition came together to create a new Constitution movement here in NY that is not going to take it from any political insider, whether there is a D or an R next to their name.
We are getting closer to the critical mass of 3-5% of the population, like the original founders, who stood up to become the loud minority.
The Next Phase of the Revolution
Recently, I re-watched For Liberty: How the Ron Paul Revolution Watered the Withered Tree of Liberty (http://www.forlibertymovie.com/), and it brought a tear to my eye remembering just how much all of us did in our quest for Liberty during the 2008 Presidential Campaign. I remember the sign bombing, the money bombs, the first Tea Parties in 2007, the PACs, YouTube videos, Meetups, the Blimp, and just the extraordinary creativity found at the grassroots level to make this unknown congressman from Texas grow virally while being ignored by the media. Our efforts then have led to the successes above, but now it's time to take some of that energy to the next level.
*What if we started to show the famous "High Tide" Ad (YouTube - Ron Paul "The High Tide" Campaign For Liberty) on our local cable channels using Google TV Ads (or equivalent local cable providers) for as cheap as $5-$15 a showing?
*What if we made our own ads for End the Fed, showing the loss of 95% of the dollar's value since 1913, how we now have to work 2 jobs, and how the poor and senior citizens with fixed incomes are worse off?
*What if started to make "Campaign for Liberty Revolution" signs and banners and plastered them around town (especially during this election time)? What if we end up being everywhere?
*What if we made "Audit the Federal Reserve" lawn signs with Campaign For Liberty URLs?
*What if we book bomb Jon Stewart at The Daily Show with The Creature from Jekyll Island book from G. Edward Griffin and ask him to read it? (He already read End the Fed by Ron Paul.)
*What if we send End the Fed books to all the major media figures in NYC and L.A.? What about comedians?
Cheap prices on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/04...mp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0446549193
*What if we all show up on November 22nd in NYC and Buffalo for our annual End the Fed Rallies? (YouTube - END THE FED - ACTION 11/22/2009)
*What if your state coordinator can work full time in going around the state to set up chapters and provide literature, banners, and Constitutions to make you successful?
"What if" will now be a reality, by you taking charge of your country and meeting up with fellow Campaign for Liberty members in your area and going to the monthly meetings. Go to http://www.campaignforliberty.com/usa/NY/ to find a Meetup near you, or email me to help you find or even start one in your area.
"What if" can begin by giving $25 a month to our new NY State Campaign for Liberty Donation Fund to build up the NY State Constitution movement and help turn the Empire State into the Liberty State! Politics is local, and we need to start making a difference here at home.
