- Newton Leroy “Newt” Gingrich was born June 17, 1943 to Kathleen "Kit" (née Daugherty) and Newton Searles McPherson.

- Gingrich fully supports the Patriot Act which violates the 4th Amendment by allowing unwarranted search and seizure and illegal secret surveillance of U.S. citizens. Gingrich stated that he would further strengthen it.

- Gingrich fully endorsed the "We Can Solve It" global warming ad campaign sponsored by former Vice President Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection. Nancy Pelosi and Newt Gingrich, who made the video ad together, don't always see eye to eye, but they do agree that on the issue of climate change, we must take action now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qi6n_-wB154

- Gingrich has publically been both for and against the Paul Ryan plan. Said he has no regrets about supporting Medicare drug coverage as-is, which is a $7.2 Trillion dollar unfunded liability.

- Gingrich supported the bailout, stating that if he were in the House he would have reluctantly voted for it. He also supported the prior bailout of Savings and Loan under Clinton. He opposed the stimulus, yet pushed to add $27 Billion to it that his clients profited from.

- In a May 15, 2011, interview on Meet the Press, Gingrich repeated his long-held belief that "all of us have a responsibility to pay—help pay for health care", and suggested this could be implemented by either a mandate to obtain health insurance or a requirement to post a bond ensuring coverage.

- In 2005 Gingrich became the co-chair of a task force for UN reform, which aimed to produce a plan for the U.S. to help strengthen the United Nations.

- Balanced budgets during his time as Speaker by taking money from Social Security and Medicare, NOT by actual cuts.

- Gingrich advocates privatizing Social Security by letting young workers opt-out, but there are no spending cuts to offset the losses of revenue. Severely hurt by this would be those currently or soon to be on Social Security who have already paid into it. Massive federal borrowing would be needed.

- Gingrich was charged with 84 ethics rules violations and fined $300,000 during his tenure as Speaker.

- Gingrich focuses mostly on tax cuts such as eliminating capital gains tax and reducing corporate income tax to 12.5%. Both are good things that would bring back jobs, however the lack of any real spending cuts projects a potential increase of $7 Trillion dollars to the national deficit over a two-term period. Borrowing would increase and the people with these new jobs would see their salaries purchasing power dwindle.

- Gingrich voted numerous times in Congress to increase and expand unconstitutional foreign aid. Now claims that he would rethink it in some cases. Gingrich also supported an act of war against Libya without Congressional approval, violating the Constitution's War Power Clause.

- Gingrich supported the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003, creating the Medicare Part D federal prescription drugs benefit program.

- Gingrich's top contributors were Rock-Tenn Co, Poet LLC, First Fiscal Fund. Received most of his money from his Super PAC, where the largest contributors to date, casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson, has contributed $10 million to his campaign.

- In May 1988, Gingrich brought ethics charges against Democratic Speaker Jim Wright, who was alleged to have used a book deal to circumvent campaign-finance laws and House ethics rules. During the investigation, it was noted Gingrich had his own unusual book deal, for Window of Opportunity, in which publicity expenses were covered by a limited partnership, which raised $105,000 from Republican political supporters to promote sales of Gingrich's book.

- In 1990, after consulting focus groups with the help of pollster Frank Luntz, GOPAC distributed a memo with a cover letter signed by Gingrich titled "Language, a Key Mechanism of Control", that encouraged Republicans to "speak like Newt" and contained lists of "contrasting words" – words with negative connotations such as "radical", "sick," and "traitors" – and "optimistic positive governing words" such as "opportunity", "courage", and "principled", that Gingrich recommended for use.
