Newt Gingrich Newt Gingrich campaigned AGAINST Ron Paul in 1996

Good find. I didn't know that Newt campaigned against Paul. Although I certainly knew that Newt was not a true conservative. Paul still won! Round two...

Good find indeed, wow. When you see stuff like this , it just shows more proof of that 'dark force' out there trying its best to suppress ANYONE who wants to bring America back to its former self.

"More a constitutionalist than a conservative"

That about sums it up. I have always said that it's not about left/right, d/r and lib/con anymore. None of that has any meaning today, imo, because it has been terribly distorted and melted down into one single party of corruption. Ron has alluded to that dozens of times and also, i am sure he doesn't even like running as a republican or being in the party, because it's an embarrassment and a mockery of what it SHOULD be.

There really does need to be another official and recognized 3rd Party today or political wing, one that truly and firmly stands in what RP stands for, and one that would get full access to the same rights, honors, and recognition that the other two have. Yea, i know, Tea Party rose out of the ashes, but even now it is becoming distorted and seems it is slowly moving away from it's original and fundamental beliefs. I remember when he met up with the Des Moines Register recently for a lengthy talk they wanted to have with him, they asked about a 3rd party run and why he wouldn't consider it, and he said 'because, if i did, i wouldn't be here right now and none of you would be talking to me'. He wouldn't be allowed into the GOP debates and get 100x less media coverage than he does now, making it impossible for him to be discovered by the general public.

Newt and Tom Delay exempted Ron Paul when they were strong arming the GOP majority back in the 1990s because he owed them nothing.

I thought this was old news, but it's good that new people keep coming and old people keep learning.

You know, watching some of these debates sometimes I wish Ron would say something about how Next Gingrich is such a great conservative that he recruited a Democrat to run against Paul to prevent a real conservative from winning his Congressional seat. I don't know, maybe there's no place for that. Though the Rick Perry Dem/Al Gore thing got some play. And Newt pulled that AFTER he was a conservative icon/Speaker. People want to make Paul out to be "unloyal" to the party, but the Republicans tried to take him out with a Democrat and constantly support RINOs and big govt neocons.

It wasn't just Gingrich, either. The national GOP backed a primary challenge against Paul in almost every election.
