New Hampshire is actually the one exception where I think a wall would be a good idea, particularly to keep all of these damned carpetbagging commies from Massachusetts from flooding in and screwing with the state's electoral politics.

I love this word. So much so, that I had to look up it's etymology recently while reading "Lies My Teacher Told Me".

It refers to opportunistic northerners who moved south after the civil war looking for personal or political gain. Many were elected in the GOP, making Hell's usage spot on.

What I was confused on, is what a carpet bag exactly is? Today's carpets come in a large plastic tubular sack. That wouldn't be very wieldy for moving. Maybe it's more like teabagging? For guys will a REALLY big set? Lol.

I had to google this too. Turns out carpet bags are handbags made out of used carpets.

They were the ratty, nasty gym bags of the 1800's. I imagine the GOP of the old South welcomed these carpetbaggers the same way that the modern GOP welcomed tattooed, besneakered Ron Paul supporters in 2007.
