Will it be Rand Paul Revolution?

The Liberty Movement?

What will it be?

Ron Paul won't be running for office anymore now that our #1 defender of liberty is retiring. It is time to groom the new standard bearers of liberty to take his place. I propose creating or supporting an institution of some sort that rates candidates according to their votes as far as they measure up to Paul's stance on the Constitution and so on.

For that matter, why aren't we grooming pro liberty and pro constitution judges and lawyers to take over the judiciary? Are they the most resistant to change?

Couldn't it stay Ron Paul even after he's not involved? It pays homage and i like making the GOP twich. And thinking about them twitching every time they hear his name, even 20 years from now, makes me smile.

If it had to change, i'd maybe go with Liberty rEVOLution. Replacing his name with liberty broadens the tent so to speak while still remaining true to the message. The rEVOLution moniker must stay IMNSHO.

It's already also called that.

Yes, but sooner or later we have to shed the moniker "Ron Paul supporter" sometime right? Doesn't mean we don't honor the man but it's always been about Liberty, the Constitution and so on. :)

People still use "Reagan Republican" and even "Goldwater Republican"....Call me a starry-eyed optimist but I suspect that the name Ron Paul will carry the same cache fifty years from now that those names carry today.

I don't think Rand is taking "Ron's place" so to speak. I don't see him as the next Ron Paul exactly, because he is different. That is not to say Rand can't be a leader, he can be. But I would hope to see more people like both Ron and Rand emerge, but filling different roles, as they do. Also, I don't think there's reason to assume Ron will disappear from the scene completely after he retires, just because he won't be in office. But I still hope he continues to have a presence, releasing books, etc.

@JasonM, yes..... all of our major institutions have been taken with collectivist thought...government, education, media, churches, etc...all areas need pro liberty/pro Consitutuon minded people. That almost seems too big when you think about it. Though I think Tom Woods has the right idea in the education front, there is no need to wait for our ideas to be accepted, and we can "go around the system" by starting our own educational programs and schools. The media is another area that can be side stepped with alternatives.

But I think it all starts with the individual. We all have different walks of life and different paths and different talents and trades, but it matters how we live our lives individually. How we raise our families, what we teach our children, or how we help educate our friends, coworkers, etc...one person at a time. How many people will you teach and enlighten in your lifetime, and how many will they in turn go on to teach and influence, and what talents they will bring to the table.

I do not think I would sign on to the Rand Paul Revolution after listening to him recently. His priority should be cutting military spending and everything else first before raising the social security age.

Great post. We each need to 'live liberty' in our own life and also spread the message person to person. I also think there is a need for group actions though. How can we help liberty-minded cooperative efforts to flourish?

I think that rather than "tea party" candidates and groups, they will be talking about "Liberty Movement" candidates in the next 5 or so years.

So, since nobody else in the senate is willing to work on cutting military spending; he should just sit around and do nothing and ignore the impending SS issue? Of course not. How about this. You start threatenin to raise the SS age and perhaps some of those people so excited about military spending will think again about how it affects their pocketbook.

I think, by learning to work in teams and build coalitions, but without feeling like this means blending in with all the same values or approaches. For instance, there is a lot of conflict surrounding the issue of "purity vs. pragmatism". On the one hand, if we compromise too much, we risk watering down the message. On the other, we can be prone to non involvement and apathy if we isolate ourselves too much. So how to solve that problem? I think Ron and Rand, together, have shown us a possible way to resolve it.

+rep! The problem with just calling it the "liberty movement" is that it can so easily be co-opted just like the "tea party movement". I mean really, who is going to say he's against "liberty"? If I support a "liberty" candidate I want to make sure that at the very least he agrees with Ron Paul on economics and foreign policy. That said, multiple names will probably continue to be used. There's already the "Campaign for Liberty" and "Young Americans for Liberty".

I went into law because I had discovered liberty. Now I'm running for County Prosecutor. See my sig!

And I personally favor "Liberty 3VOLution" - because I'm not revolting, I'm simply living with a new mindset.

I am the proud driver of this truck:

After August I plan on changing the design, highlighting just the R3VOLution logo. I also plan on wrapping my car (01 Stratus 2-door) with simply the R3VOLution logo.
