Hey everyone, I am hosting & moderating a health care reform discussion panel in a month & needed everyones input. We will be discussing reform on a national level, whats going on in DC, whats wrong with our system, and ways to fix our system.

The panel will consist of 2 physicians, 1 nurse & 1 pharmacist. The audience will consist of medical, nursing & pharmacy students, along with faculty.

What are some questions that I should ask the discussion panel? What would be some good ones to ask?

Your input would be much appreciated!

How does a person like me, that is not earning much, pay off a broken bone which would require 100k money to mend?
Besides flying to India for a cheaper operation.

My friend broke his hand. His costs so far is only about 500, including two doctor visits and a visit to an orthopedic surgeon. And an X-ray.

Why does healthcare cost so much?

What do you think of medicare?

How did people survive back in the days when there was no insurance?

How can you incorporate holistic medicine?

What can be done about the pharmaceutical monopolies?

What is your opinion of competition across state lines?

What is your opinion of tort reform?

supply and demand

The crux of the biscuit is high prices. Prices are the result of the interaction of supply and demand. I would try to steer the discussion around to how government interferes with the supply of health care goods and services and at the same time subsidizes demand.
