A NATO air strike killed four Afghan police and two civilians on Thursday, Afghan officials said.
A spokesman for the US-led NATO force in Kabul told AFP that the military was checking the information.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — Six American troops and civilians and an Afghan doctor were killed in attacks on Saturday in southern and eastern Afghanistan as the U.S. military’s top officer began a weekend visit to the country, officials said.

In the south, three U.S. service members, two U.S. civilians and the doctor were killed when a suicide bomber detonated a car full of explosives just as a convoy with the international military coalition drove past another convoy of vehicles carrying the governor of Zabul province.


Another American civilian was killed in an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan, the U.S. military said in a statement.
The attacks occurred the same day that U.S. Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, arrived in Afghanistan for a visit aimed at assessing the level of training that American troops can provide to Afghan security forces after international combat forces complete their withdrawal at the end of 2014.

Then another news feed states, "The police were out of uniform and mistaken Taliban, the air strike hit them."

KABUL, Afghanistan – President Hamid Karzai says both Taliban insurgents and the U.S. military are to blame for an airstrike that killed 17 people, including a dozen children, during a fierce battle in eastern Afghanistan.
Karzai made his comments in a statement Saturday after an Afghan investigation into the April 6 attack raised the civilian death toll from 11 to 17, including 12 children, four women and one innocent man. An American civilian adviser was also killed during the fighting.
The Afghan report says the U.S. strike occurred after the Afghan intelligence service came under attack by militants during an operation to arrest two insurgent commanders in the Shigal district of Kunar province.
