No, they're not.

Padilla was not handcuffed for "just asking a question". Newsom is simply straight-out lying about that.

If you or I did what Padilla did at a Newsom press conference, you can bet your ass that Newson would have no problem with having done to us what was done to Padilla - indeed, he'd have no problem with much worse being done to us (criminal charges, jail time, etc.).

And as for his "imagine what they will do to you" shtick - we don't have to imagine. Just here at RPFs, there are numerous threads full of stories and videos of cops doing much worse to mundanes - and for much less reason (or even no reason at all). When has Newsom ever said jack-shit about any of that (except when he thought he could score some pander-points - which is only and exactly what he is trying to do here)?

Gavin Newsom is a lying sack of shit - and a mealy-mouthed, weasel hypocrite who at the very least should indeed STFU.
