A NASA camera on Mars has captured what appears to be artificial light emanating outward from the planet's surface.

The photo, beamed millions of miles from Mars to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., was taken last week, apparently by one of two NASA rovers on the red planet.

Although the space agency hasn't issued any official statement yet about the phenomenon, bloggers and NASA enthusiasts have started chiming in.

If you listen very carefully and happen speak Martian, you'd know they are out there by that shiny pole, reading their lists of grievances out loud, in order to celebrate the Martian Festivus holiday. (It only comes up every 687 Earth days).

Since Walmart is kicking K-Mart's ass, K-Mart has decided to relocate to Mars. What we're seeing here is the first Martian Blue Light Special.

Okay, okay, okay....

If it MUST be aliens, then may I cast my vote for pole dancing Orion slave girls? :D

They are probably having the grand opening of some new movie.

Looks like one of those dusty whirlwinds to me. They seem to be active in the area based on the grooves in the dirt right in front of the camera.
