Your tax dollars at work, people.
At a time when people are hurting nationwide, worldwide, NASA is spending nearly 1/2 billion dollars to study what? The Past Climate ON MARS?

Where do they get the money??? That's right, from your paycheck, dear taxpayer.
If this were the 1960s, people would be marching every day to stop this waste.
This is a classic give and take. They (NASA) gives Colorado University $445 million for a bogus study, and Colorado hands them back $445 million for the real secret project. Wonder what it is? I also wonder what the "serious" conflict of interest was?

maybe this is money well spent... we could all go to Mars and ride out the economic collapse over there. hopefully the sub-prime mess is contained to earth, and wont spread to Mars. and if we're going to Mars to survive the economic collapse, we certainly need to know what the weather there will be like. should i bring a jacket? is it shorts and t-shirt weather? i can only pack 1 suitcase without NASA hitting me what that extra luggage charge... so we gotta know what the weather will be like. should i bring a hockey stick or a surf board?

I actually think this could be a good thing (although obviously I'm philosophically against it), because it might shed some insight on natural global warming (Mars has also been warming currently), which might help shut down some of the more ridiculous proposals about global warming legislation here on Earth.
