I wrote Gibson an E-mail regarding his hit piece on Ron Paul. It went like this;
John, I watched you on The Big Story, and all I can say is Wow your good. I mean the way you took Ron Pauls comments on foreign policy, and without missing a beat spun them around and proclaimed that he is a "truther" was impressive. I have to say I watched the debate, and read the transcript, noting no such comments., but then maybe I just missed it.
Why does Dr Paul appearing on a certain radio show disqualify him from a debate? As you know politicians appear on talk shows all the time, even "top teir" Republicans. You know such slimy talk shows as Howard Stern, Imus, and nuts like Glen Beck and Michael Savage. Why don`t you do a hit peice on those politicians. I`m sure many anointed republicans go on the liberal "nutcase" shows also, but I must confess I`ve never listened to them.
I`ve never heard Ron Paul proclaim that 911 was an inside job. Is talking to people who do, however misguided those people may be, a crime? Since you are so out of touch with reality let me enlighten you. Many, many ordinary people are distrustful of the government. Why do you think that is? Maybe you can "investigate" that. Furthermore, FOX NEWS has such slimy characters as Dick Morris, Oliver North, Heraldo, The liar Bill Kristol, I can go on forever. Yet people who illegally sell arms to Iran and then lie to Congress about it seem to be fine in your eyes. They even get their own show.
In closing I have lost all respect for you and FOX NEWS. I was an avid watcher, but not after the Ron hit piece, and the dare I say concerted effort by neoconservitive bloggers, MSM and radio hosts to discredit him. Ron Paul was the only real conservative on that stage. The "top three" are pure phonies. Those guys by virtue of their voting records alone are not worthy of being republicans. I`ve had enough of the Republican party, You do not represent conservative principles. I will vote for RP in the primary, and the general election even if I must write him in. Many republicans I know are coming around to this position also.
He replied; "he goes to truther rallies, he goes on truther radio, he says he believes the government killed kennedy, and was the hidden hand in 911...
that's a truther. and that disqualifies him for anything above dog catcher."
jg
So I wrote back; he goes to truther rallies- In my limited investigation of the matter I discovered Ron Paul did not align himself with Student Truth Scholars; they aligned themselves with him. In fact, if you watch the video, this Student Truth Scholar approached Dr. Paul at a New Hampshire house party fund raiser which had nothing to do with 9-11 Truth, and had to introduce himself and explain his organization.
he goes on truther radio- Regarding Alex Jones, Paul has been interviewed and Dr. Paul discussed the following: predicted changes after the Democrats 'taking back' Congress; immigration and guest worker issues; Constitutional position; the possibility of global economic depression; the Patriot Act and the Defense Authorization Act; open borders and the North American Union; Dr. Paul's exploratory committee, his bid for presidency and the Iraq House Resolution in February,not once did I hear a mention about 9-11, much less "conspiracy theories".
he says he believes the government killed kennedy- I`ve never been able to find a reference to him specifically saying that.
and was the hidden hand in 911- Ditto
I would argue that men such as Thomas Jefferson held many conspiratorial beliefs , some of which history has shown to be true others false. Also if it were not for conspiracy nuts such as the Anti-Federalists we would not have a Bill of Rights. I must say that I don`t generally believe in conspiracy theories myself, although I realize that a healthy distrust of the state is vital to our system of self-government and to the protection of individual liberty. The US would not exist in its present form if everyone simply swallowed the official government line.
As far as Congressman Paul not being worthy of anything but dog catcher, that is your opinion and you are certainly entitled to it. But since he has been re-elected ten times I would venture to say that many disagree with you. Even after the republican party redrew his district, and actually supported his Democrat opponent, he won with sixty percent of the vote.
Congressman Paul was the most conservative man on stage at the debates the other night bar none. His record is exemplerary and consistent. If the Republican party held those same values instead of always being two steps to the right of the Democrats, America would be a much better place.

Your reporting seems to be based on faulty information, half truths, outright distortions, and exaggerations. Why dont you report on Ron Pauls record?
Until you raise the level of your reporting I wont be tuning in to your show, but thanks for responding to my origional e-mail.
The explanation of truther radio, and scholars for truth came from someone on this site.
