The scene opens on rows of uniformed, stoney-faced youth. They sit orderly in a bare concrete room flanked by propaganda posters. At the front of the room, bathed in light, a microphoned figure speaks in a commanding voice forcing all those present to listen and obey. It may sound like Apple's famous 1984 commercial, but actually, it's Ron Paul's latest campaign ad.
Opening with the caption: "Economics Class; Beijing, China; 2030 AD," the ad, titled "banned" commercial (presumably by the 2030 global Chinese government), reinforces what we've already speculated in the past -- that this year's Republican Presidential nomination will be won with sticks, stones, love of Reagan, and scary portrayals of future Chinese hegemony.
Transcript because we highly doubt this will ever find its way to Youku:
Why did the economy of American fail? They had the greatest freedom, greatest minds, greatest military power, greatest wealth and prosperity, but they made a big mistake -- turning their back on the principles that made them great. America tried to spend and tax itself out of a great recession. Enormous, so-called, "stimulus" spending, massive changes to health care, supporting the same bad politicians [cue student bringing up video of Rick Perry] and crushing debt. In 2012 a man named Ron Paul ran for president. For over 30 years, Ron Paul tried to stop the collapse of his country, but the media ignored him. Of course, we owned most of their debt and they never recovered from that mess. Haha, now their money is as good as toilet paper. [RAUCOUS LAUGHTER]
Video and more after the jump.
Why did the Ron Paul campaign pick 2030 as the doom year? According to many sources, such as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), 2030 is predicted as when the Chinese economy will eclipse the United States' and dominate global trade.
