McConnell presses Paul to focus on Senate bid

There is really no nice way to respond to this article. I've tried typing something up a couple times but I end up cursing at people.

Fk Politico.

Rand probably could just threaten to run for the Senate seat as an Independent in Kentucky -
shows his local state support is more across the board.

I think about half of this is true, and not to the severity that one might think.... another Politico hit piece

McConnell presses Paul to focus on Senate bid
There are growing concerns that the Kentucky junior senator is courting trouble by dividing his time between presidential and Senate races.
By Shane Goldmacher and Anna Palmer - 10/23/15

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his allies are quietly ratcheting up pressure on Rand Paul to pay more attention to his Senate reelection next year — and less to his flagging 2016 presidential candidacy.

So far, those efforts have stopped short of urging the Kentucky senator, whose presidential bid McConnell has formally endorsed, to outright abandon his national campaign. But there are growing concerns that Paul, as a senator still in his first term in office, is courting trouble by dividing his time between the two races, raising the prospect that a rock-ribbed Republican seat could be put into play and jeopardize McConnell’s fragile 54-seat GOP majority.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Rand turned this into a "he's not the boss of me?" But really, The Fox News Business lady brought this up and Rand looked at her and denied that this was actually McConnell but "someone" saying it. Just in front of a gubanatorial race where the GOP candidate is getting a lot of bad press would not be a good time for McConnell to publicly pressure Rand. The KY GOP has a hard enough time being relevant.

This is a total hit piece. There is no race in KY right now. If McConnell wasn't on board he would not have approved the caucus. It will be early next year before an opponent even emerges. Rand has been stalwart in his efforts to do his job for Ky unlike Rubio and Cruz. This is total bunk!

But as donors and activists in Kentucky grumble about Paul’s absence from the state — he noticeably skipped the state’s signature political event known as Fancy Farm this summer — Senate leadership is firing off warning shots in Paul’s direction.

Skipping Fancy Farm is not a big deal. Ky politicians only do Fancy Farm when they are running for an upcoming election...being at Fancy Farm this year would be a waste of time. Next summer he'll be there.
Only the state politicians running for county dog catcher go every year.

Few of the more than a dozen operatives, lobbyists and activists interviewed for this story would speak on the record as most, both in Washington and Kentucky, remain supportive of Paul’s reelection and don’t want to be seen as crossing or criticizing a sitting senator.

They won't go on the record because it's crap.
Politico is clearly working very hard to spread this crap...I have to ask why? This is very much like Jennifer Ruben's campaign to make Paul go away in 2013/2014. I smell a rat and I think it is Cruz.
