In 2010 when I was supporting Rand's campaign, there was a time when the air seemed to go out of grass roots for a bit, and I remember someone telling me that a lot of those who left had really been in it for this guy who used to be helping Rand with his campaign... Chris Hightower. There was more to it, but I'll take it as a character reference. Apparently he got blowback for listing himself as a RON Paul Republican somewhere, as well. I'll take that as a character reference also.
It is a state seat, but there is an elderly US Congressman in that district and that could be the next step.
