This will instantly get him on the ballot in all the States that the LP and an energized RP base can get them on and there may be a tacit agreement for GJ to resign if he wins, thus letting Ron win. Ron can easily get around the sore loser run because he won't be running for the same position. This time he'd be running for VP. Wink Wink.

I prefer Paul at the top, but I'd take it, if that's all we could get due to laws or something. Ron Paul could potentially get into the VP debates and humiliate both Biden and the fraud, Paul Ryan. VP nominee Ryan needs to be taken down a few notches.

Ah ancient chinese secret... lol

yeah ill take it too

I think Gary would give Ron some lee-way as VP if they win. Maybe as much lee-way Bush gave to Cheney.

I agree! Considering the circumstances I think that this is the perfect plan going forward. Its a win win for everyone, except for Romney and Obama that is.
This would be impossible to ignore and would have to get Gary in the debates.

the whole point would be for RON to be in the debates, I think everyone knows winning is a pretty long shot. For RON to be in the debates with Obama and Romney, Ron would have to be at the top of the ticket. And Ron is the reason they would get into the debates, he is the one who has polled above 15% on an 'if running third party' basis, and he would bring the funding and support.

He should just go independent otherwise, the ballots don't matter as much as the debates. We can do write in campaigns in those states where he can't make the ballot and test how much we can get him. Plus sore loser laws don't apply to presidential elections in most states that have sore loser laws.

I don't really think he's planning to run, but if he did, the entire purpose would be to get into the debates and get that general election audience attention he was gypped of at RNC.

With Ron bringing the funding, and support, and name ID and polling.... it makes absolutely no sense for GJ to be at the top of the ticket.

Is everyone so sure about the sore loser laws when it comes to running for President?

If true, I was also thinking that Gary making Ron his VP running mate could by pass such law pushing the ticket above the 15% mark to get into the debates. ;)

But right now we are all dreaming...

but that wouldn't get Ron in the debates with Romney and Obama, which is the entire purpose for wanting Ron to do it. As for sore loser laws, here: http://www.ballot-access.org/2007/0...t-generally-apply-to-presidential-candidates/

but if he doesn't make a few states, that doesn't matter particularly if they are state he's not likely to get electors in. The debates is the big thing, and polling Johnson against Romney and Obama is a lot less likely to result in polling numbers that will get anyone into the debates. Ron has already polled above 15% multiple times on a third party scenario.

I'd say better to go independent and just do write ins or skip ballots in those places he couldn't get on, than have him in a VP position. The debates are the prize.

salingaway, I have to disagree with you. The debates aren't the prize I am looking for, no not at all.

I need a President. I need a Vice President. I need two men that I can trust to bring America back to its roots of Freedom and limited government. I would think that Ron Paul and Johnson could do that for us... right?

I even like the idea of Ron Paul taking the VP spot. It allows him to have a little less of a spotlight after the inauguration. He may be happier in a position that does not have as much pressure. It takes away from the idea of a sore loser too.

I just want Ron on the ticket this Nov.!

Well, Ron as VP would thwart some of the criticism that he's too "old" to be President. That's a plus.

I don't know that I'd even support that. For me the point is Ron in the debates. Sure I'd want a president, but RON by being able to be in the debates, of the two, is more likely to be able to do that, as well. Ron won't be in the pollster's question, otherwise, and it is polling that triggers debate access. They'd call someone and say 'Romney Obama or..... Johnson' if Ron were running as VP. Most of those who don't follow third parties wouldn't even know Ron was involved. Whereas if they ask Romney Obama or Ron Paul -- that is how to get into the debates. Getting in the debates is to me the only real chance of winning, since the money will be so skewed, plus getting into the debates is a goal in itself.

That's why I'd rather he just went independent than take VP. He is the one who brings everything to the table.

I spoke with Gary about this over the summer. He told me that it was too late at that time for Ron to get on most of the ballots and run third party.

Gary is already on the ballot in all 50 states.
