A hazardous-materials crew return Friday to a Dallas apartment where the U.S. Ebola patient stayed to collect bed sheets and towels used by the infected man before he was hospitalized.
The family living in the apartment has been confined to their home while public-health officials monitor them, and they'll remain there while the home is cleaned Friday — part of an intense effort to contain the deadly disease before it can get a foothold in the United States.

On Friday morning, the office of Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins released a statement saying a private company hired to decontaminate the apartment has finished its initial site assessment and will begin cleanup Friday. The cleaning is expected to take about three hours and the materials taken from the site will be taken to a secure location, he said.
"We are coordinating with our state and federal partners to ensure compliance with regulations regarding transfer of hazardous materials," the statement read.
Louise Troh, who shares the apartment with her 13-year-old son and two nephews, said she is tired of being quarantined and wants authorities to decontaminate her home.
"Who wants to be locked up?" she said Thursday.
Private security guards and sheriff's deputies blocked the entrance to the 300-unit apartment complex.
The confinement order, which also bans visitors, was imposed after the family failed to comply with a request to stay home.

Better late than never.

What about all the puke that was hosed down the street?

What about the 5 cops that went in to issue the quarantine order without protection?

What about the 4 people that were stuck inside the infected apartment for 3 days because nobody could obtain a permit to clean it up?

Like I said from the start, it's like they are TRYING to turn this thing into a real threat.

I said from the start of this thing that ebola was NOT a threat to the US, but that the people in power were so incompetent that they are going to turn it into a threat. The more this goes on however, the more i am beginning to suspect malfeasance over incompetence.

As much as I would honestly love to blame it on incompetence,,, I can't.

Volunteer Fire Depts had Hazmat training in the 80s. (I was on one)
After 9/11 millions were spent of "First Responder" training. All kinds of threat scenarios were practiced. Equipment is on hand.

They pull clean ups on car accidents. Walmart has procedures for biological clean up.

This shit is well beyond incompetence.

Not intentionally malevolent.

Good points, and a solid illustration of what I am moving away from incompetence and into malfeasance.

Was a quote from some Establishment blather posted by Teh Collinz a while back.

Conspiracy theorists have long been involved with the liberty movement, showing up at rallies and events, spreading their literature, and trying in general to convince those interested in liberty to join their cause. It is understandable to see the attraction, of course. Both libertarians and conspiracy theorists have a key thing in common: They dislike the government. The difference is that those interested in liberty dislike the state because it restricts our freedom and limits our prosperity. We do not think the government is intentionally malevolent, just very misguided and unintentionally harmful

"Not intentionally malevolent" is a handy phrase to be used in those far too numerous instances where government is, in fact, intentionally and brutally malevolent.

If the joke went over anyone's head - this is what the medical community calls a "bunny suite"

note bad practice: he should have duct tape sealing the gloves... and mask down on decon guy... Hell, he should be in a bunny suite too...
