Libya: Rebel and NATO attack on oil city repulsed

The Devil is in the details, buy I think we know who the "PRESSURED" is in forcing Italy's hand. THE USUAL SUSPECTS

"To add insult to injury, Berlusconi says he never agreed to the aggression and was pushed to participate," said al-Mahmoudi, referring to Berlusconi's July 7 comments that the Italian parliament forced his hand.
"Well, if he says he was pressured to attack Libya, then I was pressured by the Libyan people to cut ties with Italy," al-Mahmoudi said.

Okay... Wait For It... Here is the next days rebuttal... from the USUAL SUSPECTS

Italy Pledges Support for Libya Rebels
ISTANBUL—Italy on Friday said it would immediately release €100 million ($141.4 million) in credit to Libya's opposition government at a meeting of the international contact group for the war-torn nation.
The offer came after Turkey opened the one-day meeting in Istanbul by asking countries to loan the National Transitional Council a percentage of Libyan funds frozen under United Nations resolutions.

Italy's Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said a contract for the €100 million would be signed "in the next few days," and that his country was in a position to offer up to €400 million($565.6 million) in total.

"Turkey have made an announcement in this respect. The U.S. are about to make an announcement and I hope France will also join us," Mr. Frattini said. Turkey has pledged total of $300 million.
