An envelope sent to an office of Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) included a substance that has tested positive for Ricin, two sources say.
It was not immediately clear when the envelope was received or whether it was sent to his Washington, D.C., office or a field office.

Breaking news

I just heard on the news. They did say that it was some sort of preliminary test and possibly not reliable.

According to CNN they tested it 3 times and all 3 times came up positive, but they're sending it in for further testing.

I was watching ABC. They just said that it's a preliminary test that is not necessarily reliable, and it was being sent for further testing. They didn't say how many times it was tested, but I saw that on CNN's webpage.

From his website:

Second Amendment

I support the Second Amendment right of people to keep and bear arms. Since being elected to Congress, I have been a strong and consistent defender of the Second Amendment. I have opposed efforts to impose gun restrictions on law-abiding citizens, and I do not feel more gun control laws are the answer to the problems confronting our nation. I believe tougher enforcement of existing laws is a more effective means of addressing crime.

The right to bear arms is an individual right guaranteed by our Constitution and affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court in the decision to overturn Washington D.C.’s gun ban. One of my first acts as your Senator was to join 55 other Senators and 250 Members of the House of Representatives in sending an amicus curiae brief to the Court supporting an individual’s right to bear arms. I also am working in my position on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee to ensure that recent attacks on veteran gun owners are curbed and their rights are not infringed.

Well he was one of the Republicans that didn't support the filibuster so they may try to blame it on "gun nuts". At least I'm sure someone on MSNBC will.

I wouldn't be shocked if it turns out to be nothing just like those additional undetonated bombs turned out to be nothing.

I first learned of Ricin on breaking bad.

Hope terrorist haven't gotten smart enough to figure out poison is a more effective killer than explosives.

I didn't hear of any injuries from the ricin attack. must not be very effective unless you can get it into the air.

Ricin is one of the big fears of government because it can be grown and synthesized at home.

I'm not aware of an antidote but I don't keep up..

If memory serves it must be ingested or absorbed...

LOL I suppose someone will find a passport or two at the bottom of the destroyed garbage bins next, if history is to repeat it'self.

Can Human use absorbine horse liniment?[/h]
Answer:
We got it on a recent trip to Oklahoma. My husband has been using it... he is a 50-something year old soccer referee and does up to 10 games a week and has been known to do a few tournaments per year with a total of 20 games over three days.

He loves it, it smells like spearment.... and I think I know why (a smart horse would never let you near him with the regular stuff)

No problems, or side effects, but wash your hands real good or wear surgical gloves to apply. You don't want it on mucous membranes or in the eyes.

Beating the war drum to go to war with Iran I see...

Anyone else remember the 2 senators opposed to the Patriot Act who were sent Anthrax that turned out to be from a US government lab, with the guy who they tried to pin it on "committing suicide" before they declared the case solved despite no hard evidence, having no need to determine the real perpetrators, since it had already been used to contribute to a narrative that tied Iraq to terrorism and necessitated a need for government spying programs? (takes breath)

Yeah, I didn't think so... Nothing to see here...
