Just following up on the thread about Leah Cole and her campaign for State Representative in Peabody, MA. I posted about her a while ago, but clearly I did not provide satisfactory information. I apologize for that.

As probably the only person on this forum that knows Leah personally, I can tell you that she is a genuine liberty supporter, and that if she wins this election, the liberty movement in this state will be strengthened exponentially. Leah is a 24-year old licensed practical nurse in Peabody, and she has been working extremely hard to meet voters in this special election, which propelled her to her impressive primary victory last night against an establishment-backed opponent.

There are two competitive statewide elections going on in MA right now: the Senate race and this one. With the establishment candidate having lost, and the Senate race generating more headlines, we are not sure how much help we can count on from the state party. But this is an extremely winnable race, with a Democrat and a liberal Independent likely to split the vote (in a Republican-leaning district). So we need help from all of you.

Here is a 'smear job' printed about her today, the morning of the election, calling her a Ron Paul supporter (she donated and is liked by Ron Paul groups it would seem)http://www.salemnews.com/local/x1874095734/Gravel-raises-most-in-rep-race

and deadfish found this video on her:

The first-time Republican candidates clashed at the polls and Leah Cole walked away the winner Tuesday night, defeating Greg Bunn by a mere 52 votes.

Cole, now with the party nomination in hand, moves on to a final special election April 2 against Democrat Beverley Griffin Dunne and Dave Gravel, who is running as unenrolled.

Turnout overall for the primary election Tuesday was about 6 percent, according to the City Clerk's office.

Dunne was also on the ballot Tuesday, unopposed, and actually earned more votes than either Cole or Bunn.

but it doesn't say the Dem earned more than both combined.... but Leah Cole just beat the establishment guy for the primary, and we know that when Ron did that, the GOP had already spent his 'districts share' of fund for his opponent running against him.... so we should assume we may have to carry it.

Yeah...wish I could explain the number of votes the Dem got. She actually didn't get more than both combined, just more than each individually, at least to my knowledge. But like I said, the split vote is going to be a huge benefit to us, since Gravel has already publicly announced that he will caucus with the Democrats. There is a very real possibility that we will have a Rep. Cole very soon, and we need everyone's help to make it a reality.

I should point out too, that it isn't just liberty people here in MA helping out Leah. The entire Republican grassroots movement in this state has rallied behind her, which is a very encouraging sign.

Wait...Did she primary a establishment incumbent? Because that's even more impressive than just beating an establishment hack.

No, I wish. But Greg Bunn was being pushed pretty hard. At the US Senate straw poll last week, he was given more time to speak than any of the Senate candidates (Leah was knocking doors that morning instead, probably a smart idea).

New vid:

I don't even live in this state. Well... I don't live in the same state of any politician I donate to. :(
