I can't believe there still isn't a sub-forum for him! This race is probably the most important for us this year. As it stands, Bills is a pure Liberty candidate and has already won the Republican nomination for the US Senate race in MN. Currently, the gap is massive (55-29) and it hasn't been written off.

However, this is a great advantage for us. The incumbent is quite infamous in mainstream Republican, Tea Party and conservative circles since she is a liberal icon. There are no expectations that Bills will even come close to winning. If we can get behind Bills, pour money into the race and get a boost in the polls, it will change the narrative of the race in the short-run. With improving polls, we will be able to get Republicans generally behind us as well as independents, and perhaps even national conservative help (e.g. FreedomWorks). This would help us to close the gap further.

By doing so, I think there are two possibilities. Firstly, we turn it into a national race (e.g. Ted Cruz, Mourdock and Liljenquist) and draw enormous support, rapport and recognition from national conservatives. While we will lose, it will preserve Bills' chance next time around, or for a different office. Secondly, if we win, Bills will become a hero like Rubio became after knocking off Crist and Mourdock with Lugar (as well as others).

However, if we do not pay attention to this race because of the bad polls, never-again will Republicans nominate such a pure Liberty candidate.

generate enough news articles/posts about him and you might get the subforum. if there aren't threads then there isn't a need. ie: subforums do not create interest, they are a result of interest

Right now the Bills campaign has too many political opportunists acting as gatekeepers. They are doing an incredible disservice as that behavior is destroying any chance at meaningful public exposure. I hope they grow up soon because this race is actually winnable.

Where do you suggest we post said articles though? Nobody ever goes on the 2012 Candidates Sub-Forum. If you want some eye-balls you need your articles on GRC or on a dedicated sub-forum. I posted an article about Bills in GRC once, and my thread got promptly moved back here where it died a lonely invisible death.
I'm very disappointed with the leadership of RPF as I've been banging on about getting Bills his own sub-forum since our people took over in MN.
I will most certainly not re-up my membership to RPF when it becomes due. I have no idea what is going on with the people running this site, but Josh doesn't reply to messages & has been MIA for far too long now.

We need to reform the candidates subforums. Kwiatkowski and Gunny have lost, so their subforums need to be closed with the threads moved back to 2012 candidates. Kurt Bills, Art Robinson and John Dennis need subforums.

Kurt Bills, who is running for US Senate in MN, is about to have an end of quarter push!

I have met Kurt several times and have heard him speak on multiple occasions. Kurt is an Austrian-economics high school teacher who was elected to the State House and is running against the big-government Democrat Amy Klobuchar.

Senator Klobuchar was a co-sponsor for the CISPA/PIPA legislation which would give the government the ability to shut down whatever website it wanted to on a whim.

If we can get Kurt Bills to beat her, and it is possible to do, then we can send a message that we are REJECTING those who want to censor the Internet!

This is what I was talking about in the original post! In Wisconsin's GOP senate primaries, Neumann was our pick and DeMint and Club for Growth endorsed him (including Rand Paul). However, Eric Hovde is probably more pure, in that the Federal Reserve is a larger part of his platform (and he even repeats libertarian notions, like withdrawal from Afghanistan and that Ryan's budget isn't good enough). Plus, Neumann is fairly careerist.

However, Neumann was considered the front-runner conservative in the race, which is probably why DeMint et al. endorsed him over the Hovde. However, Hovde has surged and surpassed Neumann. In the last couple of days, twitter has been going crazy with Hovde chatter. Just today, FreedomWorks endorsed Eric Hovde. This endorsement is major and is a result of his surge in the polls relative to Neumann (who they would have endorsed if he remained the front-runner). Hovde now has a good chance of winning the nomination!

This change in the race, I believe, is transferable to Minnesota. Both WI and MN are not that favourable to Republicans, although the latter is worse. Nevertheless, Kurt Bills needs to heighten his name recognition; and, because he is probably too libertarian for the race, he must also rally conservatives broadly. I believe he can do this in a similar way to Hovde (whether Hovde intended to or not): by attacking something all conservatives hate. With Hovde, he attacked left-wing media for always running sob-stories about people on food stamps and got into a fight with HuffingtonPost over it. This would have been red-meat to a lot of conservatives, and they obviously ate it up, since he has surged. Bills must do this even more so, since there has already been opposition to him from conservatives.

The other factor is Hovde's spending. He has spent around $3m of his own money on ads, I believe. These followed his fight with HuffPo. This underlies how we must get more involved in the MN race for Kurt Bills. He is a dream candidate for us and would be a great senator. The only problem is bothering to back him, especially since he stuck his head out too far in adopting an obviously Liberty platform.

We cannot let Kurt Bills down!
