God, the man's so far and above brilliant compared to our other "leaders" it's not even funny. Seriously, everyone here should listen to these clips in order to answer the typical "crank" or "kook" allegations that people bring against him.

Well, goldbugs (like Korelin) are generally considered rather "kooky". Many of them are always warning of some impending disaster, and some people see this as just their attempts to get more people to invest in gold and drive the price of it up (in similar fashion to whats done with some stocks). I'm more than a bit skeptical that any one group could significantly effect the price of gold, especially given its industrial uses, but this is how its seen by some people.

Ron sounded really relaxed and comfortable in that interview, and came across as perfectly reasonable and rational.

No surprise to me, but he's taking a hit from those who don't understand about the monetary issues who think he's a kook on the issue, and that explanation of his position is very helpful.

He really is an articulate candidate, particularly when he's not trying to pack a concept into 30 seconds that deserves 30 minutes.

The statists always label anyone who wants to return to sound money, as the Constitution requires, a kook. They like the way it is now, because the government can inflate, and therefore spend more than if they directly taxed us, and the special interests, ie. big banks, defense contractors, etc get rich. Of course we all take it in the shorts, but that is of little concern to them.

Korelin is also pretty ignorant and prone to rhetoric about how "the United States is the only country in the world where we are allowed to discuss such issues". He does not seem to be aware that democracy and free speech are practiced the world over and is not exactly an 'american invention'.

Those comments of his certainly raised my eyebrow even if Ron Paul pretty much let it slide.

In Europe, you can be arrested for hate speech, among other things. The world is often not as free as we are.
