Thought people would be interested in this. Rand just posted this on his Facebook page:

Next week, Kelley is going to be speaking to women's groups across Kentucky. She will speak about the inspiration she received from her immigrant grandmother, Julia O’Toole, who fled poverty in Ireland and traveled alone to the United States in 1929 at only 19 years of age. Her grandmother’s pursuit of the American Dream is one of many essays about courageous and inspiring women in Kelley’s new book, “True and Constant Friends,” which will be published in April.

April seems to be the month.
No one really knows for sure... We dont want to be the first in, but we don't want to be the last in. We also don't want to do it at the same time as someone else because the media cycle won't play to our advantage (unless we are trying to steal coverage from another).

Keep in mind there probably an Exploratory Committee phase first.

You're probably right. I've heard April mentioned a handful of times in an equal number of places. Timing is key to jumping out of the gate running and building momentum. We'll see how it plays out and who actually gets into the race.

I have a feeling that the field will be smaller than many pundits think. Probably not 10-12, especially, if some big names get in early such as Bush, Christie, and Huckabee. I wonder if Jeb's exploratory committee is intended to clear the field of other moderate/country club types.

The Iowa GOP central committee will vote in the next couple of weeks on whether to keep the Ames Straw Poll. It's usually held in August. That will be a major factor in organization and planning.

Back to the OP. Congrats on the book! Hope it does well.

Are they seriously considering eliminating Ames? or is this just a formality?
It's the first I have heard of this.

Yes. It mostly stems from Governor Branstad. Just google Branstad and Ames Straw Poll and you'll see. From what I hear, the committee will vote to keep it but anything can happen.

I guess this will be my last book I cop before I take my dive into philosophy

Are you like on the campaign or something because it seems like you are speaking for them lmao

Lots of establishment types want to eliminate it, but it brings in a lot of money.

I would bet that if IAGOP does axe the thing, then another organization, or a conglomeration of other organizations, will hold one of their own.
