As we move into the last five weeks of the campaign, we get caught up in campaign strategy, ours and that of our establishment opponent. We fret that ten-term establishment insider Bob Goodlatte still refuses to debate us on the issues. We marvel that he has already spent $750 thousand dollars, much of that on a whispering campaign designed to create fear.
Our answer? Fearlessness! We were simply never afraid to challenge a well-funded career politician. We are not afraid to debate him -- anyplace, anytime, on any issue, in any forum! We trust the wisdom and judgment of the people of the 6th District, and as it is for honest people, truth is our ally.
We are ready to win this race -- and go on the Washington and start righting some of the governmental wrongs that we've suffered in the past twenty years. Regardless of the question, liberty seems to be the answer.
Henry David Thoreau said it well: "This government never of itself furthered any enterprise, but by the alacricity with which it got out of its way."
We have several updates, all very exciting:
The 6th District GOP Convention is tomorrow, Saturday May 5th. I am both a delegate and a speaker. This may be the closest thing we see to a debate with the shy and retiring Mr. Goodlatte, and I am delighted to be able to address this group of dedicated Republicans. The convention is held at the Rockbridge High School, sign-in is 8:30-10 am and the convention will be over before 2 pm. Join us!
Endorsements are flowing in. Many in the Virginia Republican heirarchy support our campaign, like former RPV Chair Pat McSweeney, Chairman of the Craig County Republican Party Jordan Labiosa, secretary of the Wythe GOP Aaron Spradlin, past Central Region Vice Chair from the 6th District GOP Zach Thompson, and former Bath County GOP Chair Dr. Andy Jones.
We endorsed by the Virginia Liberty Party, Franklin Saunders of The Moneychanger, Big L Tires, and the Pharo Cattle Company! Why would I be excited about a cattle rancher in Colorado? Let me tell you why! Kit Pharo's philosophy of the cattle industry is to be a "Herd Quitter" and that says a lot about our campaign and our views on big government. I've also enjoyed and benefited from his devotionals over the years.
We have launched our "phone from home" program, all of you may log in and make calls for our campaign! Scripts are provided, and it's a fun way to donate some spare time to the cause. Email CJ for your login and password to get started!
Helen at (571) 201-2656 is organizing our volunteers in the northern part of the District to get endorsements, write letters to the editor, blog about the campaign, establish fundraising contacts, and get out the vote activities. Josiah at (704) 574-4113 is working this same effort in the Lynchburg/Bedford area and CJ at(540)427-8231 in the Roanoke/Botetourt area. Helen, Josiah and CJ are wonderful people-- call or email them to get involved!
If you are NOT registered to vote -- you have until May 20th to get 'er done! Register today and get your friends and family registered. Call (540) 440-1776 if you have any questions at all on voter registration!
If you know you will be out of the area on June 12th, you need to request an absentee ballot -- do that now if you expect to be unable to make it to the polls on June 12th and you meet the Virginia requirements -- details here!
Our first radio ads in both Roanoke (WTOY 1480 AM) and in Harrisonburg (WSVA 550 AM) running. We are podcasting and streaming at republitarianradio.com as well! Yesterday's podcast is available here. Dave Briggman does a great job!
If you missed it, here's my latest commentary on the 2012 Farm Bill!
I've got a funny story about some red "Fire Bob" T-shirts ($10, name your size!) that I'll share next time. My apologies for forgetting to initiate our end of month moneybomb for April! Our needs are being met, each day, but we do need your generous donations to keep up the pace as we work towards winning this critical primary on June 12th. Your valued contribution can be mailed to Karen Kwiatkowski for Congress, 2 S. Main Street, Suite 408, Harrisonburg, VA 22802 or you can donate online here. Join us!
We are an email away, or call (540) 440-1776, or email campaign manager Lisa McCumsey. Tell everyone you know and share on FB!
In liberty, and in faith,
Karen
