DETROIT, Mich. (TND) — Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday made a bizarre remark when asked about the potential of a ceasefire deal in the Middle East.

The U.S. on Monday began reviewing a ceasefire deal approved by Hamas to put a temporary stop to the terrorist group's war with Israel. U.S. State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller commented on the deal, saying “the ball has been on Hamas' court” to make peace.

In a video shared to X, Harris is asked for a comment on the matter as she departs a Detroit restaurant. She headed off the question by pointing to her takeout bag.

“Shrimp and grits!” she exclaimed. “You wanted to know? Shrimp and grits.”
Harris then stepped into a vehicle.

The remarks drew ridicule Monday, with one X user calling Harris "an absolute disgrace."

It is not the first time the vice president has received criticism over remarks. In April, Harris was mocked for incorrectly claiming NCAA women’s basketball teams were excluded from having tournament brackets until 2022.

A pollster in March referred to the vice president as “court jester Kamala” when reviewing her dismal approval numbers. A nationwide survey at the time found 52% of registered voters disapprove of Harris. Just 36% said they approve of the job she has done under President Joe Biden, who also received low approval at 41%.

"As I say, she's Queen Kamala when it comes to Democrats," Suffolk University Political Research Center Director David Paleologos said. "Independents, you know, she's quite suitable Kamala. Among Republicans, she's court jester Kamala."

What an absolute joke of a human being she is. Hard to believe she's next in line to become president.
